Wealth taxes....the top.1% are going to have to stump.up imo

Not going to happen. There is a massive transfer of wealth to the rich during crises. Pay cuts, less services and more taxes for the rest of us.

This is crazy stuff. The lack of info we are getting is incredible.

So 102 new cases. Great another decline. But the real question is how many test were done to provide this number? Was it more than yesterdsy or less for example.

the fact China's is almost controlled and capped now tells you that Italy will taper off very soon as well.

    With absolute certainty yeah?

I was in a coffee shop earlier that had no seating area and had about 2metres between each person in the queue.

A girl came in, early 30s I’d say, and stood right on top of me resulting in me jumping out of the queue.

The barista saw this and still called me over next as he knew it was my turn. I was fuming with the girl. Are these people just ignorant or pure thick?

I’m annoyed with myself for not speaking up.

    You poor pet!

Typical of that newspaper - sensational headline

    Followed by
Some of my [colleagues] have noted people under 30 ending up in hospitals and a couple were vapors,” Glantz said, noting a link has not been confirmed.

Also the WHO found no higher numbers in smokers when checking the data from China

Also to mention, Stan Glantz is an in-the-pocket Pfizer shill whose own protegé, Dr Michael Siegel (the man you can thank for second-hand smoking bans and billions being taken from tobacco companies), considers him a reprehensible scourge to the task of quitting smoking, deftly failing at his own life's purpose at every step.

Fair point, I thought they were all announced at once on the 15th.

I said there were 4 recoveries up until yesterday and a single one yesterday, but you felt the need to point out that the first recovery was on the 11th

The amount of fake news, BS, people thinking they are experts coming up with their own statistics and scare mongering in this thread is ten times worse than Facebook or whats going around on Whatsapp.

Pity a technical thread couldn't be setup but people probably just go their with their false information.

Its brutal to be honest. Boards.ie just making people more anxious.

    Stick to real news sources.

I'm sure there is a technical thread somewhere around, no one posts in it though...

    People getting very carried away.
China's dead rates have tapered off now and if China has another couple of thousand dead by the end of the year I'd be surprised.
If nothing was done and the disease was allowed move freely, then maybe some big numbers would die but the fact China's is almost controlled and capped now tells you that Italy will taper off very soon as well.

Lots of people think China lied about the death and infection rates and as for getting this thing under control China had a real lockdown properly enforced.

I hope this thing does just taper off.

Maybe not officially (all would need to test negative twice?). But all pretty certain to recover as all 7 never had any symptoms.

I think the take-away is more about asymptomatic people and the increased possibility of transmission (and need for maximum social distancing).

How in the world is all this social welfare/mortgage freezing/business saving packages going to be paid for? In Ireland and abroad? You understand a few weeks, but if this really goes on for months....how are governments going to find the money to afford this? All the time nonstop we hear about how there's no money for this or that that the public needs, and how they can't possibly tax rich people/corporations any more...ok....so how in the world will they fund all this for months and months?

Things are making 0 economic sense right now and people aren't asking politicians the important questions.

I appreciate your concern but we are in a very perilous situation here.

To put it in simple terms, let's concentrate on getting out of the bog hole before we start worrying about lying on damp ground.

Capitalism will be taking a back seat for the moment. Most countries operate with a large national debt akin to paying on the never never..its all a bit of a nonsense really. Crises like this expose that, the money will be found (printed), so don't worry.

I am sure I must have missed something here, and if I did there will be an avalanche of people correcting me.

    1. The government health advice is when coughing not to use your hand to cover your mouth, but instead cough into the elbow.

    2. The government social advice when meeting people is not to shake hands but instead bump elbows.

I can understand both bits of advice on their own, but together they seem totally illogical. Has this already been discussed and I missed it ?

It’s staring you in the face - they can print money. Out of thin air.

If I had a million euros in the bank in savings , I’d be buying real assets right now. Gold bullion. Antique furniture. Classic cars. Art. 25% of that million at least. Then another 25% in bonds. Treasury notes. Leaves Half a million. Keep 250k cash , 250k on a nice house in France.

That’s what I’d do right now.

    WAN MILLION EURO!!!

Yes because you were wrong - whats hard to understand?

Where's your proof of the other one from yesterday? Apart from a friend of someone who got the report
