    Did ya not read the conversation? They said 15000 by the end of the month. The graph clearly shows a max of 4000 if we follow the same path as Italy.

    What a bloody awful decision to make, I really don't envy them.

    Well we wont know the effectiveness for another week or so but it was key that we took early action.

    I cant speak for other parts of the country but where I am, I went to the shops today and social distancing was being observed, 1 in 1 out of the supermarket and 1 person only per family. very very few shops in the town open.

    I've seen people complain about family groups being out for walks etc. Theres nothing wrong with that, just because people are out doesn't mean social distancing isn't been adhered to.

    I am starting to doubt the credibility of this. I’ve heard of people waiting since Saturday and Monday and still have no test. This is concerning as we don’t know the true amount of new cases if people can’t be tested

People need to suck up the strain to their patience. Yes it’s tough. Yes money is tight. Yes be nice to be outside. But no point people crying at scenes in Italy and Spain, but go out and about and carry on as normal here.

    Following Italy's path is a worst case scenario. Comparing populations, if we followed the same trajectory as Italy, we would have 4000 cases. It's simple maths.

    Listen buddy. To understand something as complex as a rapidly evolving pandemic you need to go the extra mile.(google translate) Listen and learn. Reserve judgement for a later date. I don't bull****. Read a book.

    Italy has a population of 60 million, Ireland has a population of almost 5 million. Yes it's a much bigger population but it's not like we won't be facing the same situation here if it spreads the same.

    People talk about road deaths - Ireland had 148 road deaths the whole year of 2019 and there is a lot of action on that to try to keep the numbers down, Italy had 627 coronavirus deaths yesterday alone.

    Are there studies to suggest when the lockdown should start showing in Italy's figures? Or, God forbid, is this already it (and the numbers would be much higher if not for their lockdown)?

    I read it somewhere (could very well of been on boards) but you only have to watch those videos of Italians singing on their balconies and what not to realise how bad it got there because everyone seems to be living in those apartments above shops on narrow streets, the population densities must be pretty high in those areas?

    You clearly don't understand that using google translate you can copy and paste a URL (thing at the top of your browser starting with www) into google translate. Then click on the link. E VOILA (that's French) It's there for you to read.

    I post this to highlight I'm concerned with transparency and real news. We can all learn something new every day. I've learned so much since this **** show started.

    Lockdown was ramping up slowly but I do think it's close 2 weeks (which is when it should be in effect).

    It's commonly believed that there are 200-300k untested community cases in Italy (they are limited in what they can test at the moment).

    A lot of the "new cases" are existing cases that become worse and are being tested when they go into the hospitals.

    I haven't seen any trucks driving round spraying every nook and cranny in the country with disinfectant spray!?
    We could go into lockdown for a couple of days to do that.
