7 people died on our roads in one weekend recently. Young people, who had alot of life left in them. Completely forgotten

I honestly dont get the irish obsession with road traffic deaths?! It is literally car crash media.

Government will have to cover ip to 70% of peoples wages who have been made redundant or else the economy may collapse apparently.

Not a chance and not necessary. Enough money to feed yourself and pay your bills is sufficient. Mortgages should be deferred.

The UK is talking about 80% for employees if their bosses keep them employed but no support for self employed so they're basically offering nothing and playing smoke and mirrors. Pay your staff but go under yourself. Fcuking stupid stuff

Covid19 to cost the country at least 34 billion all in.

If they do this, there must be incentives to spend and not hoard it, to spend some of it on non essential items.

    busy morning

I’m going to empty out my change bottle and count it. That won’t take too long so I’m also going to divide the coins into their years and see when my bottle was in recession

    :D

Why is that? What's the landlord going to do about it? I dont condone violence but god help any landlord knocking on my door asking me to leave.

Properties available to rent in Dublin up 64% since crisis started!

Shows the damage Airbnbs have done to the rental market for ordinary people.

    That's incredible. Well spotted.

well played Indo, this mornings headline is about some poor woman who died 'terrified' and 'alone'.

Its not the first time the Indo is guilty of this low level of reportage. A few weeks ago the headline was about the 80k - 100k of people who would contract this, and a week later on the front page was how there would be no funerals.

In a time where people need comforting and reassurance, and the country is going to pull together to help people try and get through this, the Indo is busy reminding us that there is no hope.

The Indo is for lighting the fire, and also if there is a toilet roll shortage.

The indo is a rag, it might as well print their header in red to fit in with the rest.

The rental market will collapse if we enter a prolonged recession. Watch rates drop.

Any update on testing waiting times? My brother is waiting since last Saturday...gp has tried every day to get him a test. 7 days waiting, now is this not being reported? Does the HSE think the testing delays are less than that? Even if he does get a call for a test, In how many days time will that be? Plus waiting for results? That’s a turnaround time of about 2 weeks from first asking for a test.

I know two people who are both waiting for tests since early last week.

Seems to be going unnoticed by the media during their Leo & Simon love in.

Come on - who live tweets their parents death?

And it worked - plenty of coverage on this site and front page of the indo today.
Was it even CV 19 with so many underlying issues?

Do you go to Tesco and threaten them if they ask you to pay for your groceries? How about when you fill the car with diesel. Do you threaten them when they say " any fuel?"

Saw a couple of council lads digging out road drains the other day, jcb and shovel man. Both had obviously been supplied with face masks and supposed to wear them. But not very practical in the real world, yer man working the shovel had his worn like a hat. I suppose he could pull it down quickly if a supervisor came along.

Not right now but I can envisage a time when that will come. Right now I'll limit it to anybody trying to kick me and my family out of our home.

    Where? Here in Ireland?

Presuming you don't have a medical card, normally an A&E fee of €100 is charged for attending without a GP referral and from then on there's an €80 per night charge (capped at €800)

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Healthcare_in_the_Republic_of_Ireland

We're so lucky. When compared to some other countries

I agree, it’s always sad when someone dies. My grandfather used to say that the flu was the old persons friend as it was send them to the grave when it was their time.

If this continues no one has any quality of life. I 100% understand if it takes healthy people but when it takes old people that have lives a full life, who have underlying conditions and were on the way out anyway...then that needs to be reported.

Otherwise what’s the point. We’re all sacrificing our freedom, our kids futures, our homes, our jobs just so some old people can live a few more months until some other illness takes them?!

    Listening to RTE now..

    We are not pushing this

“If” you can maintain social distancing, no harm in cafes and restaurants remaining open...

    That’s just absurd.

As people have pointed out here before, amazon employ a lot of people in this country including thousands of irish sellers you never see or hear about.
