Yes that's what I meant, but I think these people would never test positive.

They would, they would have antibodies present that prove they had been infected by it

Westmeath with 12 must be the highest per capita outside of Dublin and Cork. Any particular areas affected anyone know?

So in total between Jan and Feb total mobile subscriptions in China decreased by over 12 million?

Seemingly so. I hope no one is suggesting that 12m have perished there. The drop in subscribers is more likely related to the lockdown and collapse in economic activity.

Would picking it up in a shop etc. not be the 96 cases that they don't know where they got it from?

It's noticeable that many people seem to have travelled on planes with the virus and yet not infected their fellow passengers and cabin crew (if this was happening, we would be hearing of thousands of such cases by now in Europe).

Prolonged exposure seems to be more of a factor.

Youngest of a large gang of siblings - supposedly had chickenpox as a toddler. Marked on medical records.

Then had full blown chicken pox in my thirties. (Medically diagnosed).

Explanation was I had caught it so young - it didnt fully trigger the immune system.

Was told that the bonus(!) was that the later infection potentially provided some protection against contracting shingles!

Oh wow, thats interesting! I am terrified of shingles.

Interesting stuff : nobody seems to have picked up the virus through very casual contact like being in a shop or using public transport. It seems to be more along the lines of prolonged exposure to a person with the virus.

Surely all the community cases would have been picked up in the way you describe as they are of unknown source?

I’ve had a weird tightness in my chest for the past few days and it kind of feels like there’s a ‘queasiness’ in my chest.

I assume it’s not covid19 as I’ve had no fever or haven’t felt sick.

A lot of reports of same sympton on this thread.

Yet doesn't seem to be listed as a Covid-19 symptom...

why is wearing latex gloves at petrol pumps (and just for the time it takes) not a good idea ? https://www.pscp.tv/w/1LyxBNDZVWjxN Tony Holohon dismisses it because it was on whatsapp, too quick to dismiss things on social media like the band practice letter.

Thanks, was thinking it might have been ahead of Dublin and Cork per capita but couldn't be arsed doing the calculations. Hopefully just early days in terms of the stats and not a sign of a cluster in Westmeath.

They do, community transmission describes exactly that, picking it up off strangers
There were 60 community cases in Ireland two days ago, presumably more now

What doesn't? Tightness in the chest is definitely a symptom ie an infection in the chest.

You know you have to be 15 mins with an infected person to get it. If someone was with an infected person for 15mins then ya it's possible.
I think some people think they can get it if someone sneezes in the same aisle in the supermarket

That makes no sense, by that reasoning anyone that recovers from this will always test positive.

    https://covidtracking.com/data/
USA now tested almost 140,000 people,a substantial and rapid improvement on their scale of testing

As said it's not a fracking competition!

Large gangs of teenagers and kids 20+ observed today.

How many large gangs of old ones have you observed exactly?

The amount of ****e on social media being pushed that only old people can get Coronsvirus is staggering.

Those young gob****es need a kick up the hole and if their parents wont stop them - then I reckon a curfew and lockdown will...

Hard to do that in the current climate of sybil liberdees, 'ah shur god luv dem' hard luck stories and kids will be kids type excuses.
What to do when parents don't cough up a fine?

Not necessarily 'casual' contact though. Working alongside someone, being in a hospital or nursing home, living with someone.....all these count as community transmission.

They can do tests to prove that somebody had been infected by it, an antibody tests.

    https://www.sciencemag.org/news/2020/03/new-blood-tests-antibodies-could-show-true-scale-coronavirus-pandemic
There is going to be widespread community testing of exactly this in order to gauge the true scale of the pandemic, how many mild cases went undetected.
But your theory that many positive cases on the ship went completely undetected during testing because many people have immunity is not possible.

I’d imagine that a lot of Westmeath people travel to Dublin for work, which might partly explain why numbers are similar to Dublin

Good god the break down of society.

    Were you never 14?

Bitta jostling among teenagers rewarded with an assault.

    Wow just wow

You sound like your about 16 maybe 17.

14 year old do not behave like 14 year olds did 20 or 30 years ago. They have no fear or respect for anyone. A good hard thump would do many of them the world of good just to let them know that they are not in charge, that on their own they are mainly pathetic little weak pricks and that they have a lot of growing up to do.

No they are testing for RNA now which involves replicating the virus. This will only be positive if there is active virus in the body.

Antibody testing will see if your body has made antibodies against the virus, which proves the body was exposed to the virus at some point.

that only relates to clusters, not sure what a cluster is, more then 1 more then 2?

    It's not a competition!

Saw with my own eyes - gangs of teenagers out together in close proximity All over town. and not giving a flying fuk. Social distancing my rear end.

But how the fuk do you figure that other 'older generation's are to blame exactly? Groups of young gobhites out congregating because they dont believe they can be infected or carry infection to anyone else!!!

They need a kick up the hole as do the parents who are allowing this type of behaviour to continue.

I know when I was in my teens I would in my f€&k of paid any heed to something like this. You feel invincible at that age, my biggest interest was the opposite sex.
It doesn’t make teenagers some sort of evil cretins, it’s the way they are programmed. They are essentially adult sized kids, and we were all once like them. I wouldn’t fancy in the slightest trying to parent teenage kids during this. Some of the comments I’ve seen on here are ridiculous, teens ain’t that easy managed

I thought you were nearly more likely to get it in the latter scenario than the former.

But if you were relatively close and they sneezed into the surrounding air, surely that would considered high risk?
