Are people coming back into the country supposed to self isolate/quarantine now? Are there any guide lines for passangers disembarking ?

The pubs that are opening side and back doors should lose their licences, named and shamed, disgraceful

Over a thousand people have signed this petition, not requesting, but "demanding" that the Leinster Schools Rugby competition be completed.

    Name and shamed, I agree.
Losing their licence? Not a hope as they're not actually doing anything that's breaking the law.

It's immoral and encouraging people to do what they shouldn't do in these times but, nothing illegal.

Catch an underage person in them though and your wish may come true

We have - in all but name! All schools, cinemas, restaurants and pubs and most cafés are closed.

    Nope sorry we haven't.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2020_Hubei_lockdowns
At 2 am on 23 January 2020, authorities issued a notice informing residents of Wuhan that from 10 am, all public transport, including buses, railways, flights, and ferry services would be suspended. The Wuhan Airport, the Wuhan railway station, and the Wuhan metro were all closed. The residents of Wuhan were also not allowed to leave the city without permission from the authorities.[13][14] The notice caused an exodus from Wuhan. An estimated 300,000 people were reported to have left Wuhan by train alone before the 10am lockdown.[15] By the afternoon of 23 January, the authorities began shutting down some of the major highways leaving Wuhan.[16] The lockdown came two days before the Chinese New Year, the most important festival in the country, and traditionally the peak traveling season, when millions of Chinese travel across the country.[13][16]
Following the lockdown of Wuhan, public transportation systems in two of Wuhan's neighboring prefecture-level cities, Huanggang and Ezhou, were also placed on lockdown.[13] A total of 12 other county to prefecture-level cities in Hubei, including Huangshi, Jingzhou, Yichang, Xiaogan, Jingmen, Suizhou, Xianning, Qianjiang, Xiantao, Shiyan, Tianmen and Enshi, were placed on traveling restrictions by the end of 24 January, bringing the number of people affected by the restriction to more than 50 million.[1]
    Lockdown timeline[edit]
13 February 2020, the Chinese government has issued extension of order to shut down all non-essential companies, including manufacturing plants, in Hubei Province until at least 24:00 20 February.[17]
20 February 2020, the Chinese government has issued extension of order to shut down all non-essential companies, including manufacturing plants, and all schools in Hubei Province until at least 24:00 10 March.[18]
13 March 2020: Huangshi removes controls and permits on road traffic within its urban area;[6] Qianjiang does the same for its entire administrative area.[7]
14 March 2020: Hubei Sanitation and Health Committee (卫生健康委员会) Vice-Chairperson Liu Dongru (柳东如) announces that only Wuhan remains a "high-risk area",[19] and that the entirety of the rest of the province is considered medium- or "low-risk areas". Any low-risk township-level divisions, in addition to those medium- and high-risk divisions with no confirmed active cases, could lift their blockades and other mobility controls.[20] Per China News Service reporting, by 14 March, besides the aforementioned Huangshi and Qianjiang, Yichang, Huanggang, Suizhou, Xiantao, Jingzhou, Jingmen, Shiyan, Xiangyang, Tianmen and Shennongjia had announced "measures to lessen controls" and for industries to incrementally resume work and production.[20]
17 March 2020: Jingzhou removes its permit requirements for transport, resuming normal transport operations, and also removes entry/exit controls on xiaoqu.[21]
18 March 2020: The Hubei taskforce to control COVID-19 (湖北省新冠肺炎疫情防控指挥部) announces that, with the exception of exit/entry into Wuhan and the province as a whole, all anti-COVID-19 traffic checkpoints within the province are to be removed.[22]

Maybe I should have been more specific and that said we should follow a Hubei type lockdown. You all know the whining we'd hear though if it was even tried here.

There are others places in Asia haven't experienced full lockdowns, such as Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan, Japan and South Korea. But I think the differences in these places are:

    1) EVERYONE wear masks
    2) Some form of border restrictions
    3) Testing and contact tracking
    4) Social distancing in restaurants
    5) No school in HK, Macau since January (after Chinese new year)

So we have a choice, Chinese lockdown models or the above. but we have to make one soon

    BTW forgot to say:
STRICT enforcement of quarantines of foreigners and suspected close contacts of infected person

Holland is worse, crazy death figures for such a small and affluent country, normally to the forefront in adapting to challenges. Mad about skiing though so probably thronged the north of Italy last month

Worthwhile listening to this, a number of his travel group tested positive and none showed any symptoms while in isolation. 7 days in the mater and 7 at home.

    An excellent interview and insight

    https://www.eastcoast.fm/podcasts2/podcasts/the-morning-show/episode/wicklow-man-tells-east-coast-fms-morning-show-about-his-experience-after-recovering-from-covid-19/

Great interview. Shows there is probably serious amount of cases out there.

More convinced I have it now. Past the infectious stage and am self isolated by doctor until late next week. Tight chest and laboured breathing is main symptoms for me.

I think the Dutch and the Brits have one thing in common though, they are extremely arrogant people. They'll probably continue on with their current policies.

When you compare population size, to date their death rate has been considerably higher, let's hope we can keep ours as low as possible.
Their infection rate only looks lower as they are testing less than were. I have a friend who works for a local authority in Scotland in a department that looks after the needs of the elderly in the community. He reckons the UK is several steps behind every other country in Europe when it comes to the strategy their taking.

There's countries with more than that at the moment. Italy have been averaging about 3 deaths every 10 mins the past few days.

Spain's death rate in the last 24 hours is higher. They have had 210 deaths in 24 hours so that works out at a death every 7 minutes.

You cant make any kind of assertion like that based on 3 deaths really, it is just too small a sample. Maybe in a week or two time you could realistically judge which country had a better response

Yeah he was very well spoken. Goes to show anyone could have it and have absolutely no symptoms as happened in this case.

I'm also convinced a family member had it last week. Had the majority of symptoms, headache, cough, chills etc Wasn't tested as they weren't abroad. None of the rest of us got whatever it was.

Old colonial attitudes. Like the 80yr old idiots on the news refusing to self isolate because that would be letting the virus win.

You're misinterpreting the stats. 3 isn't the sample...
