None of the jockeys and very few of the trainers.

Dundalk is flat and Cheltneham is national hunt.

I'd say there is probably less than 100 in Dundalk today.

Tomorrow's meetings? Sundays? Next weeks? Are you saying none of them.went to Cheltenham to watch? Racing should be cancelled until this is over.

Yes and if you have a warm shower after you have died from Covid-19 you then come back to life afterwards.

A warm shower after unprotected sex stops you getting pregnant too..........apparently. :D But only if you do it standing up.

If one didn't already know that climate 'scientists' are a bunch of dim witted morons and their green cohrt even worse:

Words fail me. These people must live on a different planet. If this went on for 8 months, world unemployment would be 30-40%, at least. There would be civil wars between the haves and the have-nots, and these cretins want to make this the norm.

You do realise that if we continue the path we're on that climate change will make this look like a teddy bears picnic and that there will be no end, it will be permanent. You can laugh all you want because its not on your door yet, but 3 months ago we were all looking at China and never expected we'd be in the midst of this today.

Take a look at a map.
    Compare the E.U. to Wuhan.
The EU is an non- federated union of sovereign countries that covers 4.476 million km²
Wuhan is a city that covers 8,494 km²

See many offshore Islands in Wuhan?
    How about very rural dwellings?

What locations do you suggest be used as the 'humane' kennels?
    Who pays for the food?
    Who minds the dogs?
Do have even the slightest idea how many pet dogs there are in the EU?
What about the mental health of those whose dogs are taken from them?

You really haven't thought this through have you?

China is twice the size of the EU. 15 cities were put in full lock-down, not just Wuhan.
Covid-19 reached every province of China, and was the epicenter for the entire pandemic.
China has virtually no new domestic cases now.
Anybody willing to write off what any Asian country has done in relation to this virus must first produce a very good counter-proposal.

The Chinese did a proper lockdown. We didn't.

After about 6-8 weeks China is starting to return to normal but they will likely have long term restrictions such as social distancing in shops and public.

Because of our phoney lockdown, we'll still be in trouble 6 months from now.

You either shut everything down completely and start up again after 2 months, or you just scrape along at the bottom for 6 months which we likely will.

There are others places in Asia haven't experienced full lockdowns, such as Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan, Japan and South Korea. But I think the differences in these places are:

    1) EVERYONE wear masks
    2) Some form of border restrictions
    3) Testing and contact tracking
    4) Social distancing in restaurants
    5) No school in HK, Macau since January (after Chinese new year)

So we have a choice, Chinese lockdown models or the above. but we have to make one soon

"People" will people I suppose. I'm having to plan my excursions at odd times I predict that people won't be out, rather difficult to say the least. Pity it wouldn't rain at all, that's an excellent mechanism for driving humans indoors.

If you missed it listen to this Doctor on why we should stay indoors and treat each other like pariahs. Remember she is going to have to deal with the sick and dying.

See what I mean? Clear, direct, straight to the point, honest. No mincing her words, no paternalistic buzzwords. The opposite of Varadkar's speech. That's what I was objecting to. Fair play to her.

Its difficult to comprehend the scale of what Europe is facing right now. When figures are split by country , it seems more manageable, but in reality it acted as one country beforehand when borders were free. We all felt for China as the peak of their epidemic, but the EU which is has about 1/3-1/2 of the Chinese population , is now reporting about 5x times as many cases daily as China did, and at least 8-10x times more daily deaths as well. This is before most regions of Europe have even reached anything near a peak, probably just Italy

    What's the obsession with Cheltneham?

There are people here that have come back from all over the world, having been in far more infected places than Cheltneham.

Climate change is real and is a big problem but I'm not in danger of dying of climate change in the next few months. Priorities man, priorities.

COVID-19 first, then deal with climate change.

They are only at the beginning, it will return over and over unless the country remains in lockdown until the rest of the world is rid of it. They're not much better off than us in reality

Because some people who were there are now showing signs of infection! Yet racing continues in ireland and jockies/trainers who were there may be infected.

We've moved on. Not too much love for Dundalk racing but this week's ire is now reserved for people out walking and the yoof.

I think I would still rather they bring in the emergency powers and deal with the consequences later if we survive. It would be of little comfort if our gravestones say "well at least his civil liberties weren't ever at stake".

Presumably, their acquaintances who didn't travel at all are giving them a wide berth.

It's absolutely mad to see New York going into lockdown. I was supposed to go next month (obviously cancelled), just can't believe how fast this is changing the world.

Certainly not all restaurants are closed yet. I've two sons who are both working today in two separate restaurants.

I think it's a form of Fine Gael bashing exercise?
The British also get the blame for letting it go ahead.

Some of them are doing takeaway and delivery to keep staff on the payroll.
