15 Italians who were in Ireland test positive for Coronavirus on return to Italy

    https://gript.ie/15-italians-who-were-in-ireland-test-positive-for-coronavirus-on-return-to-italy/

15 Italians who were in Ireland for flight assistant training with Ryanair have Covid19. Some of them were under treatment in two hospitals in Dublin while others have been quarantined.

Day 1 each those 15 came in contact with 10 people = 150 people potentially infected.

Day 2 each those 150 came in contact with 10 people = 1,500 people potentially infected.

Day 3 each those 1,500 came in contact with 10 people = 15,000 people potentially infected.

Day 4 each those 15,000 came in contact with 10 people = 150,000 people potentially infected.

Day 5 each those 150,000 came in contact with 10 people = 1,500,000 people potentially infected.

Day 6 each those 1,500,000 came in contact with 10 people = 15,000,000 people potentially infected.

On the 7th Day the Corona god rested and admired his work. No one left to infect, Corona was pleased.

USA now has almost as many new cases for yesterday as Italy and 70 new deaths.

+5,150 so far for yesterday across the US.

Even Jameson has switched from whiskey to hand sanitiser.

We're better off than most here.

I wonder if someone from Jameson's read my suggestion that they make hand sanitiser, in the second thread, over 3 weeks ago now?

My mother pretty much grew up in the Jameson's distillery.

Do you know I don’t think it will be after this. I put my coins in a bag and won’t be using them again. Card and contact less all the way. I’ve advised my friends and family to do the same. Metal is a transmitter of corona possibly as the virus can survive a very long time on it, I read 36 hours now have just read a few pages back up to 96 hours. I often had lose change buried at bottom of my handbag, all gone now even the hand bag. I found a cloth bag and when I go out I will bring my card my keys and phone nothing else. Bag can washed when I come home and keys and phoned wiped with antiseptic cloth.its a lot of work for sure but money is so dirty. I hope more people think about this.

But if money is dirty why is money laundering against the law?

Lotta companies doing this, fair few breweries in the UK have switched to making ethanol for the sanitizers

But it looks like that didn’t happen, thankfully. Also, if people are practicing social distancing, the Cheltenham crowd etc shouldn’t make a difference (apart from to medical staff).

What is more vile is people still being made to go to work (When not necessary) and have to use Public transport. I was shocked when I found out that my friend who works in a city centre shoe shop, is still working. Like who the fcuck needs shoes.

Also I hear so many people saying that they have some of the symptoms but still going out as they know it’s not the virus as it’s something they get regularly. Also had to message a friend of mine on Facebook as he was doing live videos out and about today. Interacting with people sitting in a group, drinking. He’s fcucking 30. What makes it worse was he was going to bank, post office, shop, which puts them at risk.

Starting when? I cant see the Government locking down too quickly.

At our level of growth we are 10 days away from when Italy implemented a full lockdown based on current trajectory. Italy had 9,000 confirmed cases and 460 deaths when they went into full lockdown.

Dublin and Cork need to be locked down. Could lift stay at home for rest of country.

I would be in favour of this happening but I just can`t see the authorities doing it. How could it be implemented and enforced? The resources are just not there.

Last week certain people accused others of 'Scaremongering' and 'doomsday scenarios' when trying to get across the gravity of the situation - Unfortunately we didn't even have to wait 7 days to exceed 100 cases a day...

I agree with what some other posters have mentioned, we need a full shutdown here ASAP to really stem the spread. Some people just aren't getting it.

While I agree with you about Dublin and Cork I completely disagree with the second part. There are no confirmed cases in Monaghan and at least 30 people waiting to even be tested. Do you really think there are 0 cases there?

Adjusted for population differences our 557 cases is the equivalent of ~6,500 in Italy. We need to lockdown now!

    Italy was too late.

If this is the first time you have felt fear, then you either have not being paying attention and you haven't been as careful as you should have, or you for some reason thought you we were immune.

Ive been paying full attention and Ive taken all the precautions necessary to try and protect me as I know I am far from immune.

The fear I have is that despite all my best efforts Im surrounded by ****wits who havent paid attention, taken precautions and think they are immune and as a result the majority like me and probably you who have will be the ones to suffer

Every county has large towns which will mean large exposure. But the virus doesn’t differentiate between rural and urban. I’m from the country but live in Dublin. A farmer friend rang me and I asked has the mart being closed. He told me it was but now reopened with restrictions, including floor markings on where people should stand. People are requested to stay in cars/jeeps until their animal is for sale or if they want to buy but he said this is being ignored by some. Even worse was the fact that many are still engaging in the spit and shake custom when a deal is done.

I was one of those posters, I called the Taoiseach's speech on St. Patrick's day scaremongering and in a few other posts i said scaremongering. When he said 15000 cases by the end of this month i just thought bullsh1t. I couldn't get my head around the numbers.
But after listening to Dr. Catherine Waterway i now fully get the gravity of the situation and it's scary, very scary.

The point is will the authorities get it anymore than what they already have?
How many deaths would it take before they would order a lockdown even if it could be implemented?

I think it dawned on me last Wednesday. I have been in the house since then. Up until then I was posting jokes on Facebook etc. A few weeks before that, I was inwardly cringing when someone brought up a coronavirus policy in our offices. I hadn’t really read up on it and assumed it was not something that would have an impact.

My brother is as frontline as there can be and even when he was talking about the seminars he was giving to his staff on what will be done, I still didn’t get it. When i spoke to him on the phone and could hear nerves from the most usually detached person on medical things, it became clear how serious this is.

We could be a few weeks away from when deaths start ramping up in magnitude
If the daily cases start ramping up then a lockdown needs to be seriously looked at - we had 191 today and that is partly down to increased testing.
But what if we have 300 tomorrow, 500 the day after - some scary looking numbers for a small country
5000 new cases in a week could mean over 100 people in ICU - yes we have a lot more places than that but that 100 will quickly escalate to 100's

My apologies then. And I agree. Sorry for misrepresenting your position.

I'm just a little antsy and a little emotional. Probably would do best to take a break from the news and this thread.

Again, I mean it when I say I'm sorry. I was wrong.

Ive been working all week, about to head out for another shift in an hour...ive been isolated most of the week reckon ive had contact with 5 maybe 6 people.
At the start my thoughts were we probably have all got the virus and the numbers are huge and the testing figures make us worry more because of the positive cases and death rates.
But just when they call out the numbers and the increase it still gets me even though I believe there is loads of us that have got it and have no symptoms or not bad enough to be tested and reported.
Driving around yesterday it looked like normal, except for rush hour traffic,it was more or less gone but the amount of people roaming around in towns it was like a weekend rather than a Thursday.
I dont know what to think anymore...doing my part wearing gloves, washing hands keeping my distance as best I can but Ive no choice but to keep on working and luckily enough my job was always pretty isolated in the first place.

I'm the same at work ( Construction), its like two different worlds.
In work just like a normal day at work, no real social distancing practised, leave work and head home for isolation. I heard yesterday the Construction Federation of Ireland sent out emails stating its fine to keep the sites open.

I think this is a mistake.
