Google wet markets. And then look for something similar on Europe.

Google other pandemics. They can start from anywhere, but yeah I'm aware of problems with animal practices in China but other areas of Asia too.

Industrialised meat industry in the west can also be a potential source. Pig farming for instance.

It's not just one country. We all have to assess how we deal with this risk.

Why not just test us all to start , like the NCT you get your time and your number , pay a few bob and get a text with your results at least then we would have a real scale ,

5million people , 25,000 testers , 200 people a day wouldn’t it give a great picture of exactly where we are

Waste of resources if you have no symptoms.
It would only show you are clear when tested.

They do stop you from touching your face though.

Thats human nature though, more so people have to train themselves not to touch their mouth or eyes.

Which most of us do without even thinking.

This will change the way we do things going forward for sure.

Personally I'm alot more conscious now of what I do.

It’s repulsive to see western “news” outlets pushing communist China’s propaganda.

China blamed the Us military several times hence Trump calling it the Chinese virus at every opportunity.

Even in a global crisis they can't leave each other be. Looks like China is getting back to normal while the problems in the Us are only beginning.

    We aren't a nice nation.

Hopefully this weeds out the scumbags and wasters in this country.

So first you said they don't work but now you're saying they should be only for health service??

Why wasn't our government proactive and planning for this? I bought these months ago when the virus started in China. I value my health so I bought n95s

You bought them because you value your health, but you just posted a few minutes ago that like another poster, you are too afraid to wear them in case people laugh at you or think you look suspicious.

Europeans don't eat gross **** like bats and rats and live on top of each other.

No but they have grotesque animal factory farms where diseases spread that could spread to humans, for that reason I don't think any of us can look down on the Chinese. We should perhaps think about how we keep animals worldwide, it might even mean, gasp, eating less meat.

The thing with Chernobyl is that it was a government cover up - in this the Gov have been very open, its the general populace who have been stupid and disingenuous

What's happening is its now endemic. And the government bottled it on a proper lockdown. Might as well go down the herd immunity route now as we really don't have the willpower to impose a lockdown here.

There are different ways to approach this. We seem to be following no. 3 in this article. Herd immunity sounds more like no. 1.

That's charming. My husband fits all those criteria. Nice to know you consider him expendable! Except - he's not.
Aside from the moral and emotional repercussions, like many of our generation, we babysit grandchildren so our kids can work. We're also con sumers, have no debt burden, and assist our family in many other ways other than babysitting. We're not quite as expendable to the economy as you might think. Nor are many, many others who are older or have a health condition.
    >reading with understanding

I didn't say anyone is expendable.

Teenagers on the green near where I live today playing football. I counted 12 of them. Having a 6 a side game. Not a care in the world, jumping all over each other and acting the maggots. I said to my neighbour what you make of that? She said "I know,it's like the summer holidays already, and she laughed. It went totally over her head. Is it just me watching too much on this or her and these kids parents being idiots.

I think our approach has been sensible, if a bit late.

I also think there will be a ramp up in interventions. I don't know what that could be though.

Lockdown may come, but maybe an intermediate step first. They did mention advising elderly people to isolate - cocooning - perhaps that's next, before people on the street are fined.
