    The predicted exponential growth.
Hopefully this will slow down when the interventions take effect.

The advice is not to get on with life.

    It's to alter it drastically.

I meant as in not worrying where the virus is, who has and when will the government protect me by locking us down. Its worrying for the sake of it.

Take social distancing seriously even if others don't, limit your interactions, try to keep to your family circle as much as possible but continue working if you have a job as you need to keep sane, have an income and try to help the country stay afloat. The HSE will hopefully do its bit for you if needed, we need to keep something in the coffers to make that possible and protect those unlucky enough to lose their jobs.

Prof Luke O'Neill will do a Dr. Ciara Kelly and take over Pat Kenny's radio show.

So first you said they don't work but now you're saying they should be only for health service??

Why wasn't our government proactive and planning for this? I bought these months ago when the virus started in China. I value my health so I bought n95s

The general public does not need to wear masks.

Health service works who are around a patient for 12 hours do.

It's common sense, this was said by the hse over and over at the start and even a few days ago that there was no need for the public to be wearing masks. If someone has a respiratory issue then that's a different story.

    We need some new clichés.

Prof Luke O'Neill is a bit of header.
He's a small bit daft alright. Conveying his message in a somewhat jovial manner that is different from the grave tones heard in other quarters can be comforting for some

My sister was diagnosed + referred by GP on Monday morning so nearly 5 days now
apparently as a priority case as there's a child with Down Syndrome in the house
she's worse now but holding steady at moment
there are 5 of them in lockdown in the house, Dun Laoghaire area

still no HSE call to test

I doublechecked with GP the referral was done

Can anyone give me a steer on the testing timeframes at the moment please? I'm starting to wonder whats going on??

    thanks

What's happening is its now endemic. And the government bottled it on a proper lockdown. Might as well go down the herd immunity route now as we really don't have the willpower to impose a lockdown here.

You can isolate the old and vulnerable, not shut down the entire economy and cause a 1929 level depression.
Most people in their 50s will survive it, there will be the odd case of someone who is a heavy smoker or is already sick in some way dying.

That's charming. My husband fits all those criteria. Nice to know you consider him expendable! Except - he's not.
Aside from the moral and emotional repercussions, like many of our generation, we babysit grandchildren so our kids can work. We're also con sumers, have no debt burden, and assist our family in many other ways other than babysitting. We're not quite as expendable to the economy as you might think. Nor are many, many others who are older or have a health condition.

Yes. I am absolutely sick to f**king death of how everyone is pretending this isn't a 'China' problem. Of course it is. It's not racist to say so, or any of the other pure sh1te I've seen people spouting.

    It's 100% China's fault.

    Not entirely.

If this virus originated in Europe or any other region, would the result be much different? I would bet not.

The best counties at dealing with this virus all make it mandatory to wear a mask when someone goes outside.

China, South Korea and Signapore....can you see the connection???

Lol at the people fantasising about the army coming in to shoot scumbags. Won't be long until their foaming at the mouth to wipe out the knacks and the dole scroungers.
    Boards.ie will never change.

It didn't take long at all.

It is but its not the time to fight that battle, they have valuable info and resources for the rest of us. Take them to task when this has passed.

Google chinese wet markets. And then look for something similar on Europe.

Why not just test us all to start , like the NCT you get your time and your number , pay a few bob and get a text with your results at least then we would have a real scale ,

5million people , 25,000 testers , 200 people a day wouldn’t it give a great picture of exactly where we are

It’s repulsive to see western “news” outlets pushing communist China’s propaganda.

Let's be honest we still haven't taken this seriously.

The amount of old people out and about today.

We need a good kick up the arse now before it's too late.

    Ok believe what you want.

Those countries have worn masks for years due to air quality and pollution.

But fire away wear a mask, they offer no additional support to someone walking around a street if your not ill.

    Again theres no proven benefit,

All these people complaining about people not staying at home, how the **** do you know this if your stuck at home and not out and about.

Such sh1te, humans have been around millennia. Vaccines about a centuary, what did we do before that.

Died, a lot. Smallpox alone killed hundreds of millions in just the 20th century. 30% death rate. We eradicated it completely in the early 80's.

Prof. Luke O'Neill plays in a punk band called The Metabollix.

Really. Great name for a band although I did have a 3 piece ska/punk band called Degenerative Disease which I thought was good too. We were ahead of our time- name wise.
