They should have enacted a law saying looters and thieves will be shot while they were at it today. Frontline have no time for this sh1t now. Scumbags will use this as an opportunity.

    Absolutely.

Just so not to offend the offendable well we'll just say The Chinese Government are the guilty ones. Although they eventually brought the crisis under control according to themselves and are happy to receive the credit for doing so from various quarters it must not be overlooked that they are a vile authoritarian and highly secretive establishment. They helped create this pandemic and whatever they are telling us now should be taken with a pinch of salt.

One thing I notice is you really get shouted out in shops etc. Rightly so but it's a shock to the system.

For example I slowly approach the deli in my local super valu for a roll today. I stay 2m from the counter. I get roared at STAY BEHIND THE BLACK LINE!!

There was a thin black line 3m back from the counter I unwittingly crossed. But look staff have to protect themselves and us all.

In Korea at least they would tell you where the diseased people went so you can avoid them. Here nobody cares.

Went for a run by the coast in Dublin tonight and there was the usual people out walking on there own or with there partner,
Then I came across a group of 10 adults hogging the path not even a half a meter between them all walking at snails pace gloggin up the paths for everyone,
WTF is wrong with these people do they have no TVs or radios to understand what they are doing is just stupid,
On my way back same group of 10 stíll going slowly blocking up the whole path, Narrow path and busy road so it's hard to get past them if I wasn't nackered from the runid have certainty called them out

New laws they can detain without question or shoot

The new laws today only related to the Garda .
The power of the army is still the same
Expect they can detain until a Garda arrives if one is not present at the time of suspected criminal act

It's from the Italian rugby people now. Even the totals being more in Dublin is saying that.

It's just around the 2 week timeframe from when they came over now. We'll see big numbers the next 4 or 5 days now from this.

Then there'll be a week or so where the numbers won't be as bad & then another surge.

I think there's still 3 more weeks before we start to see this level off.

Hopefully then the social distancing measures /school closures will start to kick in and numbers will start dropping...unless there's loads of infected Brits flying in still

No its because Dublin is the biggest city, with most public transport, workforce and social interaction. Dublin amazingly will be ground zero for the outbreak here, followed by Cork city, Limerick and Galway.

Would you parachute them in or would it be a land invasion via the dublin mountains for cover?

You seem to have issues with the deployment of the army for some reason. Hunt with the hound, run with the hare? 5 days ago you were advocating a complete lock down. Hmmm. As a civil servant yourself, you should know better. To use one of your own quotes from a week ago, I shall be on here in a few days to say " I told you so", except I won't, as I couldn't be bothered.

And to that you can add further evidence of suspect official attitudes in China:

Early and combined interventions crucial in tackling Covid-19 spread in China'- University of Southampton

"The research also found that if interventions in the country could have been conducted one week, two weeks, or three weeks earlier, cases could have been reduced by 66 percent, 86 percent and 95 percent respectively– significantly limiting the geographical spread of the disease"

Nice way to look at people, catch a virus now and your diseased. Will we all shun you when you're diseased. Maybe the health staff shouldn't look at you cos you're diseased.

this could & most likely will go on for a year

Where do people see this heading long term 3-6 months+?

When will restaurants, schools, sports events be open to the public again?

The horse is bolted now. The limited shutdown came too late. Contact tracing has likely been a failure as unless you employ chinese type rigour, technology and numbers its no use.

At this stage all we can do is keep old people isolated.

We were always going to hit this stage when we failed to ban flights early to Italy and when we failed to impose isolation on those who returned from Italy. The Italian fans coming over probably didn't help and the government didn't even bother telling the Cheltenham punters to isolate.

Our only hope now is older people don't get it in large numbers. They probably shouldn't even be going to the shops at this stage.

Yes put it started last Tuesday week. So cases will be starting to show.

And pay no attention to the northern figures, they only test hospitalised patients. No testing of people with symptoms .

It's not about the people but where they went, what they touched. That's how you stop spread.

That's the point! Shun people who are ill. Keep away from medics in case it is passed on to them or more vulnerable people.

In 3 months there will be a large volume of people who have had it and things will start to return to normal as the person to person transmission reduces. Gradually things will reopen from there
