Sorry I still don’t get how healthcare workers are making up 1/6 of confirmed cases.

I get that they are on the front line but with a low rate of total confirmed this is a massive number.

It’s airborne for them under certain conditions, maybe that might explain at least some of it.

Went to the local Supervalu today and was impressed with their attitude. The main entrance to the shop was closed with the secondary side entrance the only one open. This was manned by a member of staff who pointed you to a table where there was hand sanitizer that you had to apply and then disposable gloves that you had to put on before you start shopping. Also the counter staff all standing well back from tils until they had to use them.
Also went to Tesco and all there was were a few lines at the tils to try and keep distancing in the ques.

Contrast....M&S (Dundrum at least)....nothing! Will not be back there soon!

repost, apologies made a total hames of it by hitting post by accident for previous version

Chinese figures, please compare like with like, people keep making a very basic error, the total population of a country is irrelevant, the relevant population is that % which realistically have the potential to be infected.

Also the number confirmed is not comparable as it is subject to just too many variable.

Isolation, travel bans, and ruthlessly stamping stamping out the sparks hitting other population centres reduces the latter % significantly, as in may have done in China's case.

Wuhan has a population of ~11M and Hubei ~60M, so Wuhan is about 18.33%. China ~1400M

    Huebei v Lombardy

    Hubei/China 60M/1428M = 4.20% of population of China (2017).
    Lombardy/Italy 10.04M/60.48M =16.60% (2018).

    Extent Hubei 185,900 km²/China 9.59 M km² = 1.9%
    Extent Lombardy 23,844 km²/Italy 301,338 km² = 7.91%

    Pop Density Hubei 60M/185,900 = 324.32/km²
    Pop Density Lombardy 10.04M/23844 = 421.07/km²

    Nice

Actually DIY stores could be quite essential in the months going forward

Both from a nessessity (fixing issues yourself so you aren't calling repair people) and from the point of view of letting people get ready for projects at home if locked in.

We've got a few tins of paint set up. Going to paint the walls in the back garden if the lock down gets worse.

Yeah my city has shut down non essential businesses, but hardware stores are included in the essential category and are staying open.

I'm planning on going there actually to get some gardening stuff. May as well plant some flowers etc and maybe paint too.

A friend of mine follows that lady on Twitter and if it is the same woman who died (her mother) then she was 88 and had COPD.

Took the dog for a stroll after work and came upon a couple who had randomly decided to park their car in the mountain and were having a game of Frisbee with each other. If one of them has it, then they were literally throwing their germs around the place. :pac: I tried to keep to one side of the road with the dog on a very short lead until I passed them. On the way back, they were still at it and made no attempt to stop their germ throwing so I stopped walking and they eventually moved to one side so we could pass. Commenced the virus throwing again as I was passing and I had to say "distance please!" so yer man could feck off out of my 2m space. Numpties
Sorry I mean isn't it so nice to see people out and about enjoying the scenery :p

I have heard that some couples are still sleeping in the same bed.

So, exactly what metrics are required to relax the lockdown?

Positive tests as a % of total tests on the downslope for X number of days?

Just so we have an answer ready when people start to question why 30% of GDP has vanished and there’s 7 people in ICU.

Heard an FDA official on Bloomberg saying the drug trump was referring to can’t be used as it has not been tested and no Proof it can do anything meaningful.
