Professor Liam Glynn on the Tonight Show is very optimistic Ireland can beat this crisis : he reckons the massive team effort from all of society will pay dividends.

366 cases now in Ireland, Leo reckons they're be 15000 by the end of the month, that's 13 days away!

Is leo just scaremongering or is that realistic?

He can't project 5,000... what if we are at 15,000 then, the country would go into meltdown.

Plan for the worst and hope for the best.

Regardless, the better we implement these measures means we get out of the lockdown quicker and we can then get back to trying to recover the economy and helping our neighbours get back on their feet. But it also means we may not need a further lockdown.

Good points. Also, don't use the self-service chekouts as the touch screens won't respond if you're wearing gloves (or at least didn't for me). Had to take off my gloves which negated all my preparations.
Don't wear gloves, don't touch your face, wash your hands properly when you get home strikes me as less of a rigmarole.

She mentioned having mild asthma so maybe that's why. Apparently asthmatics shouldn't take it - you'd think I'd have known that before this pandemic, being asthmatic

Yeah, some asthmatics can have allergic reactions to ibuprofen. However, I think only like 10-20% of asthmatics do end up of having allergic reactions, so the vast majority of asthmatics could theoretically get away with having a few nurofens but in my opinion paracetamol/solpadeine is superior anyway. Anyway, better to never find out whether you are allergic or not by simply avoiding ibuprofen altogether, it's not worth the risk and you could make yourself a lot more sick than you need to be.

The 3 month mortgage deal will cause higher amount per month afterwards.

    Depends
If it's been paid back over the lifetime of the mortgage
    You won't even notice it

Yep. Chest pain. Hyperventilating. Until I relax and then the symptoms disappear.

You'd like to think that and there does seem to be a sense that people are prepared to knuckle down to that end.

I think they are just adding it on to the end of the mortgage. That's my understanding of it anyway.

Following the Ibuprofen debate for the last few hours.

I couldn't find any advice directly from the WHO regarding ibuprofen/coronavirus but the NHS in the UK have the following advice:

No they haven't, they have recommended not self-medicating with it, whilst they check it out.

Of course it was, but we're far from out of the woods as some believe. You can keep your snide comments to yourself.

I know we are still in trouble but it is nice to celebrate small victories sometimes.

How long do you have the symptoms? Doctor put me down as a possible case, have that burning thing and more wheezy today but have a cough for two weeks. I have no temperature and only felt a little bit sick in the beginning.

He didn't put me forward for test as more urgent cases will need them and as I have symptoms for more than two weeks I will not be shedding the virus. In isolation for one more week. Would be nice to know though so I would know if I have immunity or not

New York & London seem to have large growth in cases. Both cities with very busy rail/metro/tube network.

Been to New York once and London 5 or so times. Came back sick from NYC and London, all respiratory illnesses.

Be interested to see Milan figures, as they have s metro too. They are just Petri dishes of illness

Cases in Turkey soar, 93 new cases today.

    Another Iran.

Can hide the numbers only so long...

If this gets into the refugee camps in turkey...it will be pure and utter carnage

So what's the story with the Yanks, are they charging people to be tested/receive treatment?

Have to say, at a time when we're fixated over daily stats of the cases, let's remember the amazing effort of Irish people with over 24k offering to help from today alone from HSE recruitment drive, buala bus everyone

The response of the health service and those involved in testing and contact tracing has been phenomenal and the Govt are playing a blinder.

And nearly every single one of us have been doing our bit in terms of hygiene and social distancing....excellent team effort so far.

    doesn't mean she had it.

This was the woman who said her mother tested positive on 15 March. She was the lady who hadn't been out for weeks and only had carers and close family visit the house. Very sad.

Coronavirus Fact Check: What do we know about ibuprofen and COVID-19?

So what does the World Health Organization (WHO) say?
On Tuesday, spokesperson Christian Lindmeier told a Geneva press conference that suspected patients should not take ibuprofen without consulting a doctor first.

In a statement to Euronews, the WHO said they are “aware of concerns on the use of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, such as ibuprofen, for the treatment of fever for people with COVID-19.”

The WHO added that are quickly reviewing the reports, they were not aware of a “published clinical or population-based data” on the matter.

“We gathering further evidence on this issue before making a formal recommendation”.
