2,700 new cases so far today in the US and 41 new deaths.

I strongly this will bring down Trump eventually (I mean politically)

I'd be a bit worried that both the US and UK could go the way of Spain and Italy.

The experts were saying on CNN today that the huge fear is the US health system being completely overrun by case numbers.

    I recommend doing this.

Wear sanitary latex gloves and squirt some bleach on them or soap on them.
Then go shopping or whatever you set out to do. Not only will you not be relying on hand sanitizers, but you will not touch your face unconsciously and every time you touch a door handle you will sanitize it too.
    Adhere social distancing too.
What about wearing a mask too in order to minimise cough and sneeze contamination?
Use shopping lists and move quickly to the place you know where the item is.
    Pay by card.
No small talk other than hello or I'll call you later.

I bet we would be on a winner if we did this.

Good points. Also, don't use the self-service chekouts as the touch screens won't respond if you're wearing gloves (or at least didn't for me). Had to take off my gloves which negated all my preparations.

We'd have to average over 33% every day to hit 15,000.

It doesn't look likely on the daily increases so far but it's not out of the question, especially if we do more testing.

In the last week the daily increase has been 63%, 29%, 43%, 31%, 32%, 31%, 25%. It is already in the numbers so not sure how you can say it isn't likely!?

The 3 month mortgage deal will cause higher amount per month afterwards.

Because the difference between an increase rate of 25% (day to day) which we saw between today and yesterday versus 33% (what projections were at) would mean approximately 50% less people infected by the end of the month.

If we could go from 1.33 -> 1.2 it would be (very approximately) only 25% of the total number affected.

It's good news but cannot be taken as a true picture yet because of the testing numbers and delays in results.

Every day we 'beat' the projection on the low side is a good day, and hopefully aggregates up to a lower compounded figure on 30 March.

Not sure it’s been confirmed in media but the persons daughter said it on Twitter: https://twitter.com/carnsoreboxer/status/1240363570761736194?s=21
    doesn't mean she had it.

No and European Medicine Agency denounced it as incorrect. HSE says it is fine.

Looks like the WHO just pulled rank.
The World Health Organization recommended Tuesday that people suffering COVID-19 symptoms avoid taking ibuprofen, after French officials warned that anti-inflammatory drugs could worsen effects of the virus.

The warning by France Health Minister Olivier Veran followed a recent study in The Lancet medical journal that hypothesised that an enzyme boosted by anti-inflammatory drugs such as ibuprofen could facilitate and worsen COVID-19 infections.

Asked about the study, WHO spokesman Christian Lindmeier told reporters in Geneva the UN health agency's experts were "looking into this to give further guidance."

"In the meantime, we recommend using rather paracetamol, and do not use ibuprofen as a self-medication. That's important," he said.

Everywhere we look we see people at the top performing well and inspiring confidence, even people we might have had poor opinions of. This bodes well for getting through this.

We're still tracking towards nearly 15,000 by month end based on daily percentage increase so everyone can put away the champagne for now.

No, we were tracking towards a worst case scenario of 15,000 at month end assuming a constant modelled daily rate increase of circa 30% calculated on the figure two days ago.

Put away your nihilistic bible. Today was a small step in the right direction.

Should ease delays in testing from tomorrow

Should see a big growth in the number of people who have coronavirus from now on.

Yeah. Had the same. Tried top of my key. Edge of credit card and no luck. Like you had to use fingers.

But then again, going to an actual person means they handle your stuff to scan it in. Ok they wear gloves, but looks like they don’t put new gloves for each new customer.

Here we are now, thread number 9. Starting to see the stories of people with loved ones going into hospital/dying.

Read up on some of the Chinese cases here, to see how harrowing it's going to get. Just as we're telling the UK they're a fortnight behind us and the Italians are telling us we're a fortnight behind them...

They will, I don’t think any amount of mitigation will prevent that.

Ciara kelly controvrsial there, says not to take ibuprofen

She mentioned having mild asthma so maybe that's why. Apparently asthmatics shouldn't take it - you'd think I'd have known that before this pandemic, being asthmatic

    6 in ICU

We're 3-4 weeks behind Italy in terms of spread.

Let's hope the actions already taken have the desired effect and slow it down. That said, today's figure of 366 cases will rise to 15,000 or so by months end. It's currently doubling every 3 days give or take. If that date can be slowed considerably, fewer cases will become infected early on, and therefore fewer people will need ICU care. That's why people most at risk MUST go into lockdown.

100 extra ventilators to be delivered every week. However, ventilators alone of limited value if we don't have the experienced staff to operate them. That's going to be the biggest scarce resource.

    Stay the **** HOME!!!

I could only hold her hand while dressed in a biohazard suit with double gloves and double face shields

The outfit suggests one of them has it

USA running at near 40% increases in cases today. I wouldn't like to see the numbers if that level of daily increase continued.
