I thought that the issue with ibuprofen and coronavirus was not true.

    From the HSE website:

The HSE is today, (Monday 16th March 2020), advising anyone with Covid-19 to continue to take any medication you were already taking, unless you are told not to by a healthcare professional. This includes anti-inflammatories (NSAID) such as ibuprofen, naproxen or diclofenac.

In response to false information about anti-inflammatory medication and Covid-19 circulating in media and on social media over the last 24 hours, Dr Colm Henry, Chief Clinical Officer of the HSE advises, “Only take one anti-inflammatory medication at a time. It is okay to take paracetamol and an anti-inflammatory like ibuprofen at the same time.

Dr Holohan said the projection of 15,000 diagnoses in Ireland by the end of the month was in an "unmitigated" situation.

"In other words, if the disease continues to spread through the population with no impactive measures, like social distancing measures, that's the kind of growth trajectory we'd expect," he explained.

"So we'd be hopeful that what we will actually observe will be a lower number of cases on the basis that we have seen some success as a result of our social distancing measures."

I don't understand why people are so happy with today's results, 74 is a 25%. It may not be a 30% increase but it would be unlikely to get an exactly 30% increase everyday.

Because the difference between an increase rate of 25% (day to day) which we saw between today and yesterday versus 33% (what projections were at) would mean approximately 50% less people infected by the end of the month.

If we could go from 1.33 -> 1.2 it would be (very approximately) only 25% of the total number affected.

It's good news but cannot be taken as a true picture yet because of the testing numbers and delays in results.

2,700 new cases so far today in the US and 41 new deaths.

I strongly this will bring down Trump eventually (I mean politically)

We're still tracking towards nearly 15,000 by month end based on daily percentage increase so everyone can put away the champagne for now.

He's coming across well and IMO good to have an ex-politician in the mix on the banking side.

    Wtf? HSE says it's fine.

French Min for Health said this at the weekend. It was challenged by HSE and NHS. Total confusion reigns on this. If it doubt, and if you've a choice, use paracetamol first. If on a prescription , talk to your pharmacist. Leave GP alone. They're up to their eyes with real cases.

The last two days my chest in particular just above my diaphragm is sore, nearly a pulsing ache and tightness. Sinuses are a bit stuffed too.

We'd have to average over 33% every day to hit 15,000.

It doesn't look likely on the daily increases so far but it's not out of the question, especially if we do more testing.

Absolutely, Italy, Singapore etc all put paid to the idea that you can extrapolate from a few days data.

    Also complacency can set in.

    Emmm?

This virus has been in the news since December.

Heard about it alright but didn’t pass any heed like a lot of people I would imagine.?

I'd be a bit worried that both the US and UK could go the way of Spain and Italy.

The experts were saying on CNN today that the huge fear is the US health system being completely overrun by case numbers.

    I recommend doing this.

Wear sanitary latex gloves and squirt some bleach on them or soap on them.
Then go shopping or whatever you set out to do. Not only will you not be relying on hand sanitizers, but you will not touch your face unconsciously and every time you touch a door handle you will sanitize it too.
    Adhere social distancing too.
What about wearing a mask too in order to minimise cough and sneeze contamination?
Use shopping lists and move quickly to the place you know where the item is.
    Pay by card.
No small talk other than hello or I'll call you later.

I bet we would be on a winner if we did this.

Good points. Also, don't use the self-service chekouts as the touch screens won't respond if you're wearing gloves (or at least didn't for me). Had to take off my gloves which negated all my preparations.
