    Leitrim still has no cases.

Sure no surprise, it has a population of 461. And you have to get there by helicopter ;)

I’d love to know how many texts per day they conduct..

About 900 a day now per RTE

Is it? To me, it indicates that we are not doing enough tests and many people remain undetected. They've done around 5000 tests and there are 366 positives. That's extremely high levels being confirmed.

The backlog is on the lab side now from what i can make of it. We cant just magic up the necessary analysis resources at the drop of a hat. I am sure they are working on all that 24/7.

I think you should cool the jets and give them time. Supoort our frontline and back office people.

You do nothing but complain and moan here. Its rather tiring, pandemic like feelings.

I am thinking we will start looking to return to normal after the school Easter holidays.About 4.5 weeks from now.
    That's my guess!!!

That ambitious and possibly our best case scenario.

How far are they off to test if you have the antibodies, I'm sure a lot of people got this without symptoms and could be in the green. Boris was referring to this earlier

See mentions of breaks in mortgage payments from the banks. Wonder will landlords be forced to pass this on to tenants?
Paschal mentioned this and said they will track the relief given to buy to let.

Where can you see the Rte viewing stats?

I’m guessing Leo’s broadcast last night has record breaking figures.

The Director of the NVR Lab just said on the RTE news that they are processing 900 tests per day and that is approaching their max capacity.

Are there other labs currently testing for the HSE?

Surprised PP haven't opened a spread book on it . :D

I hope the figures are good considering the increase in testing over the weekend. If we keep growing at this rate we may just see this thing out.

Bowers there still mentioning possibly 10000 cases by end the of month.

But he also still held out the hope the number could be considerably lower than that : he said next week and the following week would give them the first indications of what impact social distancing is having.

How is 74 good news. Its 25% growth that means that roughly every 3 - 4 days the amount of cases will have more than doubled. I seen from England last week that sometimes they had a low number of cases but it still got out of hand. Even 10,000 cases could result in 300 deaths or more by the end of the month.

The way some people here are talking it feels like they are disappointed that the numbers are lower than expected.

Eh, isn't that exactly what you're doing here?

Most people here actually seem quite encouraged by the number.

That didn't hold in Iceland though.

250 cases, 3 today - no deaths reported?

Where are we with regards to Italy in the same timeframe? I seen someone post a graph on it yesterday, be interesting to see now.

    Let's not be complacent here.

I wouldn’t get too excited about the figures yet. My brother is waiting since last Friday to be tested. Had symptoms last week and just about recovered now. Multiple emails to HSE and National Ambulance Service over the weekend. After the online system went live on Monday, his doctor submitted a request...and another via email..and another on Tuesday...and another today. He has yet to even receive a phone call about actually getting the test, never mind waiting for a result. He is self isolating now, but what about contacts before the period? The testing will be a week too late, if it ever gets done.

Relatively good news today, a bit of a lift to the spirits, with due respect to those who are ill and have died.

I'd just be a tad concerned that complacency might set in. We have to keep this social distancing thing right up there for a good while to come.

We know that it will grow. But if we had implemented no changes, it would grow quicker. That 25% change is the key.We want that percentage, that rate of change to be kept low as possible on a daily basis. The next week or so should give us a good indication of how successful our measures are.

How many days are we behind Italy by estimates?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 857 ✭✭✭foxyladyxx

Nothing wrong with having a positive outlook.

I think some posters want more cases.

I think that comment is uncalled for. Many of us here are anxious about the safety of our nearest and dearest.

I also have many friends nursing in hospitals in Dublin.

6I ICU cases is 61 too many but thank God we are not seeing the death rates climbing to anything near Italian levels.

How their healthcare workers are coping is a real worry . .

How long do we expect these measures to last? In the UK they have closed schools indefinitely and cancelled GCSE/A Level exams, could we see similar measures here?
