Is there any solace in our low death rate or is too early to consider? No smartarse answers ....

To all the people offended that president Trump refered to it as the "Chinese virus", tell me, what do you call the Spanish Flu?

I caught the flu while staying in a small hotel in Seville there a while back. Turns out there was a doctor also staying there at the same time. He was able to diagnose me and prescribe me meds etc.

    Really took me by surprise.

Nobody expects the Spanish inn physician.

You're clutching at straws now. Besides, I stocked up before the pandemic. Whose laughing now eh?

So what happens if you suspect you have it, you get tested at home but feel relatively okay. Do they let you recover at home? What happens after that then do they call every so often to test you until you’re negative?

Why haven't we implemented a stricter lockdown now?
I would have expected a decree to close most non essential business by now.

Are the decision makers trying to get a balance to keep some level of the economy going?

We know the surge is coming.
We know it's going to be bad.
But we still have a chance to reduce it.

    Why aren't we doing more?

Probably too early to say, but no harm staying positive.

Can someone explain how takeaway isnt a risk? Like someone preparing and touching your food is ok?

The virus doesn't fare well on hot food. So hot takeaway food should be fine. Cold food such as sandwiches and salads I wouldn't risk.

Heard from a local HSE source only 4 of the cases in Cork (out of ~ 30) are currently in hospital so I would say yes. Regular check-ups.

Fair play and thank you to the 24,000 people who have come forward to help in hospitals. Some even coming from abroad !

Yes thanks to them, I'm curious though how they are getting here if flights are halted

    Read the link https://www.france24.com/en/20200318-avoid-ibuprofen-for-coronavirus-symptoms-who-says

Asked about the study, WHO spokesman Christian Lindmeier told reporters in Geneva the UN health agency's experts were "looking into this to give further guidance."

Isn't that exactly the same source you quote earlier?

All I am asking is where is this information on the WHO website.

The only mention I can find of Coronavirus and Ibuprofen on the WHO website is here:
They should also stay home (or work from home) if they have had to take simple
medications, such as paracetamol/acetaminophen, ibuprofen or aspirin, which may mask
    symptoms of infection

475 deaths in Italy today...that is pretty brutal

While it is their largest number of daily deaths (previous largest was 368 on 15/03), they have also had their largest number of recoveries today - 1084 (previous largest was 527 on 14/03)

I think he's using it as a distraction for his own failings.

He is actually being very clever. A virus is not a tangible enemy. Blaming it on the Chinese and portraying the crisis as a war like event may work well for the next election. War is usually good for the incumbent’s chances.

He is trying to use the pandemic to his advantage.

Ebola and Zika are both named after where they originated so we haven’t really.

I found great confidence in the number of people currently in ICU. 6 atm.

In comparison to lots of countries so far we've managed to keep it relatively under control.

To a large extent that statement will be severely tested in the next week or so.

The county by county breakdown is needed sooner rather than later to make things hit home for those still not taking things seriously

I think the worry is that people in “low” counties will relax a bit too much and neglect vigalance...

There has been a recent campaign to get that name changed to the 1918 pandemic. German measles next I guess. What about all the eponymously named diseases... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_eponymously_named_diseases

This is what he's trying to do but it won't work. The USA is facing it's worst humanitarian crisis ever and he's done absolutely nothing to combat it. He realises this and is now starting to panic.
