I know, I'm cynical but if the WHO are making such recommendations why can't I find them on the WHO info pages?

    Read the link https://www.france24.com/en/20200318-avoid-ibuprofen-for-coronavirus-symptoms-who-says

Asked about the study, WHO spokesman Christian Lindmeier told reporters in Geneva the UN health agency's experts were "looking into this to give further guidance."

"In the meantime, we recommend using rather paracetamol, and do not use ibuprofen as a self-medication. That's important," he said.

He added that if ibuprofen had been "prescribed by the healthcare professionals, then, of course, that's up to them."

Ridiculous decision, who gives a flying **** about horse racing at the moment

Having a little gamble online can be a bit of relief for those isolating.

IMO, if normal events can continue then thats great, as long as people arent at risk.

Can someone explain how takeaway isnt a risk? Like someone preparing and touching your food is ok?
Your not sitting beside a number of people for a period of time who could cough and splutter over you for a start. You not touching surfaces etc.
Wash your hands before eating it, no issue keeping takeaways open it might keep some businesses afloat

Because what I said is true.

There was no about turn, the U.K. has its plans to combat this just as Ireland does. Both governments are doing what it right for their own country.

Which is how it should be.

Wow. No it is not true. So you can't accept they now have changed tack. It's as i suspected you can't accept that people are criticising the UK approach because it undermines are, you have to see an ulterior motive.

    https://www.euronews.com/2020/03/18/coronavirus-fact-check-what-do-we-know-about-ibuprofen-and-covid-19

In a statement to Euronews, the WHO said they are “aware of concerns on the use of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, such as ibuprofen, for the treatment of fever for people with COVID-19.”

The WHO added that are quickly reviewing the reports, they were not aware of a “published clinical or population-based data” on the matter.

“We gathering further evidence on this issue before making a formal recommendation”.

Because everyone is calling it the Coronavirus, not the China virus.
Not offended btw, I think he's using it as a distraction for his own failings.

I caught the flu while staying in a small hotel in Seville there a while back. Turns out there was a doctor also staying there at the same time. He was able to diagnose me and prescribe me meds etc.

    Really took me by surprise.

Nobody expects the Spanish inn physician.

So what happens if you suspect you have it, you get tested at home but feel relatively okay. Do they let you recover at home? What happens after that then do they call every so often to test you until you’re negative?

Why haven't we implemented a stricter lockdown now?
I would have expected a decree to close most non essential business by now.

Are the decision makers trying to get a balance to keep some level of the economy going?

We know the surge is coming.
We know it's going to be bad.
But we still have a chance to reduce it.

    Why aren't we doing more?

Probably too early to say, but no harm staying positive.

Can someone explain how takeaway isnt a risk? Like someone preparing and touching your food is ok?

The virus doesn't fare well on hot food. So hot takeaway food should be fine. Cold food such as sandwiches and salads I wouldn't risk.

Heard from a local HSE source only 4 of the cases in Cork (out of ~ 30) are currently in hospital so I would say yes. Regular check-ups.
