In solidarity with everyone who is losing their jobs, the teachers should go on the dole too. We cant afford to pay them. Makes sense, right? We are heading into the greatest economic depression.

Why would teachers do something to please a bunch of people who hate them anyway? Would you even give a shlt if they did it or would you continue to base your opinion of them on a teacher you didn't like in school?

except they are working from home still and correcting tests and work? Should we just tell everyone to go onto the dole instead of working from home? Theres a whole other thread for the stupid teacher bashing if you want to go there

I was speaking to a colleague of mine in China, I was trying to source some masks for myself and family members.

He said Chinese Government is now starting to control exports of masks and specifically want to limit the amount going to the US after trumps comments.

Everyone one loving the government after a speech , shows how easy it is to get the sheep to follow,

The airports are still open and flights still coming in, that needs to stop NOW

Agree, many older folks aren't internet savvy or have access to the internet.

Against the RCC but there is a still a portion of our population who go to mass

Might be a mixed blessing given the amount of crap online about Covid19.

    How is that bad form.

Good for some of the older generation on their especially. Should make they feel better.

Set up a separate channel for it. Sure they already have a Catholic radio station. Thought we had moved beyond "having another Mass" as a nation.

My elderly mother regards tv mass as a weak substitute anyhow. Wouldn't even bother turning it on.

Suppose if you look at it that way it'll keep oldies at home. I just don't like the rte church link, not all of us are Catholic.

**** sake, more serious matters at the helm than this ****e. It brings a lot of people comfort, especially old people who are vulnerable.

Well not all of us like Fair City but they still show that sh*t.

If you have an issue with providing the elderly with a bit of solace in these unprecedented times then you need to talk to someone.

Kinda bad form to have that on national TV imo
Why ? If gives elderly people a small bit of comfort during this time then what’s the problem.

You want to teach elderly people to use another channel without even being allowed to go over and show them? I am sure plenty would be fine but I am not sure it would be the general rule.

    Simplest option taken and finished.

Most of those are Irish people / residents returning home. There are virtually no tourists or visitors coming here.

Except that teachers are busting a gut providing resources and online content from Junior Infants to Leaving Cert. The teachers in my kids' school were in yesterday (a public holiday) creating individual packs for each child & registering them all for an online service where the teacher can correct work, upload work & provide more content. If teaching is such a cushy number you may be glad to hear that the CAO is open every year and you can apply to become one. Off with you.

They are doing a good job of it regardless of what you think. You’re just another hysterical mouthpiece on the internet who’s opinion means **** all in the scheme of things so better off shutting it.

I was giving Trump stick for his Irish Pharmaceutical comments earlier on (which were an indirect dig at Ireland) and got ambushed by a gaggle of Trump lovers. Not sure if you joined in.

I told you that he didn't actually say that because if you listen to what he said he actually said Ireland was doing tremendous work.

For the 3rd time here is the video, listen to what he says.

He is a ****head and talks a lot of ****e but don't make up stuff he said, when he didn't

    For sure.

The Spanish flu spreaders were soldiers at ww1. The Spanish flu was controlled or eased when the war ended and the soldiers stopped travelling.

With this virus, the spreaders are tourists/travellers. If this virus continues and chances are it will, this will have to stop. Or forced quarantine for every traveller/ tourist into every country.

I don't know what were waiting on this move.

Only issue with this announcement is that the mass should be shown on RTE One and not News Now. What happens when there a press conference while the mass is being shown.

Did you hear the whole comment? The context? It was in the context of bringing Pharmaceutical jobs home.

In Trump defence, China was trying to control the coronavirus narrative by suggestion the virus was spread by US army to China. Before that Trump was never used the term "Chinese Virus". I think he is trying to remind people the virus is originated from China, rather then being a racist. To be honest I don't find the term offensive, maybe a bit insensitive, or not too diplomatic. I am writing this as an ethic Chinese btw.
