You think 100k infections in Ireland is a possibility?

I'm not assuming anything. I'm not making wild claims either.

    Very very likely.

Thousands of people travelling to and from Italy and later Spain and not compelled to isolate once back in Ireland. Just the kickstart something like coronavirus needed. It may take 2 months but yes 100k cases is possible and the problem is most of them will be undocumented.

Just watched a really solid video explaining exponential growth (https://youtu.be/Kas0tIxDvrg)

Can someone tell me our current growth factor for cases in Ireland or point me in direction of case numbers by day?

I come face to face with well over 700 people a day in a local shop. Theyd stand about 3 feet away from me.

    Back in again tomorrow now

Put a glass or perspex screen up and dont take cash payments. Talk to your manager about it.

There is information that we will experience 30% increase daily. However unless symptoms are unbearable advice is stay at home. Getting tested isn’t much point because no treatment. I think we have way more undetected cases.

I for one, along with 70,000 other bar staff effectively lost our jobs with the instant shut down of bars, it'll be long after March 29th before they're open again. And it had to be done, it really had to be done.
On top of all the other chaos that is going to ensue, the realisation that the dole is not going to pay my rent is a very worrying thing. This is going to effect 100,000's of thousands of people, instantaneously.
Well aware there's more important things to worry about, I have an elderly mother that I dearly love. The external repercussions are very worrying, we're all in the same boat :(

Can you apply for Hap to help with your rent?

Too hard to keep up with this thread. I have to skip at least 50 pages everytime I check in.

They all count in everyday politics and rightfully so. When this is over we'll be back to issues like that.

There probably wouldn't be any need for this social distancing if people would just cop on and use some basic hygiene and manners like keeping your coughs, sneezes, snots and spits to themselves and wash hands properly and regularly.

A sizable portion of the population would be behaving on this but what is so wrong with some other people?

There's an old man over the road from me who walks around with his hand down his pants picking his arse. I just hope to god if he ends up sick he won't be wasting valuable hospital resources.

We'll certainly have loads of undetected cases if people don't even try to be tested.

Wardrobes full of toilet paper crew I'd imagine. I'm signing off for a bit. Too many have lost the run of themselves . Peace
The worst case scenario from official sources, I meant.

    What an odd statement.
'Professional' TD's is exactly the reason they were voted against and can not form a government.

Eviction would take up to 8 months. Relax and focus on what you need to do now. If you can bills you will. If you can't, you can't.

A lot of people were taken in by show over substance with Leo's speech.

The reality is the disease is out of control here and no one will take responsibility for the lack of measures that allowed it to get out of control.

Can you back up how it is out of control and what about in other countries?

Can you name one European country where it could be deemed in control?

I don't think it's out of control at all and the government are taking actions now.

It's people here who are spreading the virus by not practicing social distancing or proper hand hygiene.

You can't blame the government on everything.

Evictions and electricity/gas disconnections are for "won't pays", not "can't pays". And after an extremely long time of non payment/non engagement.

    Valid point.
An estimate has it that globally, for every diagnosed patient, there's 10-20x more undiagnosed ones with COVID-19. Meaning, if these got tested, they'd be positive. Also worth mentioning that some patient shave very mild symptoms and will have a very mild clinical picture therefore, not presenting for testing let a lone hospital admissions.

There are some right scruffy cnuts out there. I was in work on Monday and there was a lady, sick as **** about 20 yards away from who just let rip with a sneeze. We were the only two on the floor. She didn't think anybody else was around. And the worst thing about where I work is that desks aren't assigned - you have to basically take what is available on a daily basis.

It's ****ing downright bizarre how the virus is so severe on some people and not on others.

Almost seems like a luck of the draw scenario.

Sounds like it could be a particular blood group that this virus is targeting...

Could also be the viral load that you acquire, when you become infected too. Which is even more reason to limit your contact with other people... keep your distance and don't congregate in groups within enclosed spaces if possible. Even if you get this thing, hopefully you might just get a light dose/small viral load... which could be survivable!

That is really awful but is there any way rent can be frozen. I can't imagine evictions been tolerated for the next while. Maybe I'm been naive. Hope all works out.

I’m just wondering how in most countries the virus is spreading to different parts of each country however in China it was mainly the Hubei province ? I know there were cases in other parts but it was mostly there.

How can they get rid of it from a country with a population of 1.5 billion so quickly , are they reporting the real figures ?

They are not rid of it, lots of areas still in lockdown,

I hear the badgers will all rush you, pin you to the wet sodden ground and give you TB.

Me, I like my central heating, fast internet connection, fridge, hot showers and a warm dry bed.

    Have fun.
