No and I didn't say that. Although come to think of it, I don't know.

I’m just wondering how in most countries the virus is spreading to different parts of each country however in China it was mainly the Hubei province ? I know there were cases in other parts but it was mostly there.

How can they get rid of it from a country with a population of 1.5 billion so quickly , are they reporting the real figures ?

There is no stopping this disease every country in the world is in the same position now. Lockdown etc are only going to slow it down. We will get large numbers infected the best we can hope for is that it occurs in a frequency that is manageable by the health service.
Covid 19 is out of control worldwide.

Accordingly to an earlier post here 9/10 positive tests in an Italian town were asymptomatic

    About three pages back

So it depends what they mean by a positive test.

Is it having the virus and symptoms of covid 19 or just the virus?

    The numbers suggest the former?

If you have OCD, please stop reading now.

The following may be of use to some people able to adapt it to their own circumstances. NB I normally live alone.

My SOP is based on locking out any possibility of virus transmission from a pre-sterilised area, and sterilizing all objects introduced into that area.

Going out of my apartment, I roll back door mat, put on the shoes, kept in a box by the front door, and handling via inside surfaces only retrieve the pair of gloves kept in same box, exit apartment and put on gloves, using inside only method.

If I need to remove my gloves while out, I use a bare hand to retrieve keys, touch-pen or bank card, and when they are returned to pocket, removing and replacing glove in same manner as outlined above.

On returning I use above procedure to open outer door etc. with keys, using elbows, knuckles etc to navigate to my apartment. Only touch rails and other surfaces with gloved hand.

When I return, if shopping, I place plastic shopping bag in a separate box, remove shoes, and return to their box with gloves, then fold back doormat to it's normal position.

    Next wash hands thouroghly.

Carefully retrieve each item form shopping bag, holding with a tissue, wipe it down with disposable sterilizer cloth, or if possible, cut away and discard packaging into shopping box, and place into the 'sterilized' box.

Virus remains active for up to a day on packaging, and up to three days on plastic surfaces. Fabric surfaces unknown but apparently a short time. Still always wash hands thoroughly after changing clothes.

Using this 3 box SOP I have believe there is no need for me to worry about frequent hand washing as long as I remain within my apartment.

I am lucky in that I can shut virus transmission worries off using this SOP, and restricting personal interaction outside of this environment.

It must be a nightmare attempting to stay safe in a family environment, especially involving young children. Hopefully above may also be of some assistance to those seeking to protect a vulnerable individual in such an environment.

If still alive in December it will have worked, otherwise ...

    NB
If working from home, up, wash showered, shaved and properly dressed by normal work time. Put a schedule in place and stick to it. Take breaks and walks. Without sticking to some plan and routine it's terribly easy to become lax and fall into a depressive cycle. Been there, done that and I'm never lonely when alone.

I am pretty sure every speech delivered on this by a world leaders will have some form of we will prevail? It did have a wartime speech about it but that seems appropriate. They have had we will win since the dawn of time. Is he meant to say we won't? A reassuring speech shouldn't sugar coat the hard issues but it should at least show confidence that we will come out the otherwise so those words are needed

Just thinking how inconsequential and far away stuff like the RIC commemoration, Catherine Noone's comments or what David Cullinane shouted seem today. None of those things really matter at all now. This virus has changed everything in our political landscape.

I come face to face with well over 700 people a day in a local shop. Theyd stand about 3 feet away from me.

    Back in again tomorrow now

Sure. It could also be that less people are coming forward with symptoms. We just don’t know after a single day. Hopefully it is good news.

Or they developed some sort of hard immunity. It just does not make sense.

Europe is now the epicentre of this virus.

To any nurses and medical care workers who maybe post here I just wanna say best of luck and health to you! You guys are effectively our new defence force and you're awesome!

I for one, along with 70,000 other bar staff effectively lost our jobs with the instant shut down of bars, it'll be long after March 29th before they're open again. And it had to be done, it really had to be done.
On top of all the other chaos that is going to ensue, the realisation that the dole is not going to pay my rent is a very worrying thing. This is going to effect 100,000's of thousands of people, instantaneously.
Well aware there's more important things to worry about, I have an elderly mother that I dearly love. The external repercussions are very worrying, we're all in the same boat :(

I'm not assuming anything. I'm not making wild claims either.

    Very very likely.

Thousands of people travelling to and from Italy and later Spain and not compelled to isolate once back in Ireland. Just the kickstart something like coronavirus needed. It may take 2 months but yes 100k cases is possible and the problem is most of them will be undocumented.

Just watched a really solid video explaining exponential growth (https://youtu.be/Kas0tIxDvrg)

Can someone tell me our current growth factor for cases in Ireland or point me in direction of case numbers by day?

Put a glass or perspex screen up and dont take cash payments. Talk to your manager about it.

Just glad we have professional TD'S in power. Imagine if SF had of ran more candidates and they were in power now. We really would be up **** street.

There is information that we will experience 30% increase daily. However unless symptoms are unbearable advice is stay at home. Getting tested isn’t much point because no treatment. I think we have way more undetected cases.

They all count in everyday politics and rightfully so. When this is over we'll be back to issues like that.

There probably wouldn't be any need for this social distancing if people would just cop on and use some basic hygiene and manners like keeping your coughs, sneezes, snots and spits to themselves and wash hands properly and regularly.

A sizable portion of the population would be behaving on this but what is so wrong with some other people?

There's an old man over the road from me who walks around with his hand down his pants picking his arse. I just hope to god if he ends up sick he won't be wasting valuable hospital resources.

We'll certainly have loads of undetected cases if people don't even try to be tested.
