Would anyone know if there’s a transcript of the speech anywhere. Thanks. Just missed it live, and by the time the RTE Player gets to the point, I’ll have given up.

    Thanks

Don't bother, it came into the country primarily from Irish people returning from Italy so even if they had planned to shutdown flights we would have had to take our citizens back

Comfort that the right actions are being taken. Comfort that the right provisions are being put into place for the people who are going to be most hit by this. Comfort in the thought that the leader of your country is taking this crisis and threat serious and not just seeing it as an opportunity for his ****ing close up.
Entirely in your head because you have decided that he's the devil incarnate.

Yes it is a global pandemic and the entire Eu are planning on banning all inward travel from outside and the Irish government are not...does that not seem strange to you?

Anything that requires interaction the modern bat**** insane British Tories is strange.

Request in writing what measures the employer is taking to ensure the health & safety of their staff with Covid 19.

    What will that achieve?

I know someone who works for a multinational company. They have the capability to work from home but the company says they have to come into the office for work. Is anyone else in the same position? What can be done about it? They are putting their staff at risk of picking this virus up!

Yeah my sister who has asthma is forced to come to work even though she can work from home.

It's disgraceful. I know there are some people who can't work from home but in the case where they can work from home then they should.

Medical devices are still critical, should we shut Medtronic in Galway?

Are there safety procedures in place there? Why should their safety be in jeopardy over others just because of economics, I understand Medtronic is a vital place of work due to the nature of their work but they have to ensure their staff is safe...

I would hope that we can foresee vast changes in the Airline Industry from this.

In particular, I want to see Health systems put in place as currently exist for "terrorism".

The actions of a very select few mean that ALL of us have to suffer the horrendous hassle of security checks.

I await the same with regard to health checks on both egress and ingress passengers.

Think how quickly this virus has become pandemic, compared to how long it took for the Plague to spread from Genua etc.

The economic and health implications of Covid-19 will last for a long long time.

    Thank you, airline industry.

    Trump has
    - was the first to ban flights from affected areas thus buying time
    - made a consortium of all major pharmaceutical companies to find a vaccine.
    - He waved regulations to allow a vaccine candidate to become the fastest ever to enter phase one testing.
    - He’s giving paid family leave to those affected by Coronavirus.
    - He’s made one Trillion dollars available in government bonds.
    - He got Walmart to use their car parks for drive through testing.
    - he’s planning a bailout for cruise and airline industry’s
    - he’s looking at giving €1000 to every American
    - even CNN are giving him some praise

Please stop the uninformed Trump bashing

I’m sorry but can you get the **** out of this country? Anyone that thinks trump is doing a good job obviously has a lower iq than the man himself and most of his delusional followers.

Didn't Italy ban flights from China on January 31st and still ended up in an almighty mess? Would it have been impossible to make it from Italy to Ireland even if he had banned flights. Did anywhere else ban flights coming in from Italy?

If you can't catch it twice and are recovered from the first one and are virus free there be no need to isolate so would there

    Don't be fooled.

This country is full of self centred arse holes and scum bags who will be having parties right now not caring one iota about their fellow people.

But will be the first to moan they are homeless and the government care about them.

Can they get away with this? It's putting lives at risk. My friend lives with her parents who are getting on in years. She's close to refusing to go in but is afraid of losing her job.

Well, it's only the 7th time a Taoiseach has addressed the nation so it's pretty important.
When the leader of a country tells us calmly that this is going on and on and we don't know when it will end I think it's important.

He basically said we have the capacity to help anyone in distress and that it will happen but we will recover but that there is a cost.

He hit all the main points, social distancing, possible new measures dependant, listen to the experts not pricks on social media, look after each other but stay apart.
He called out the ones who will battle and get us through it including transport providers, shop workers etc
He mentioned schoolkids and what they can do to help looking at many months of no school.

The nitty gritty to help people is already in motion and it better be big enough to help people through this.
I'm sure we'll hear all about the main measures in the next day or so.

And I say this as a self topranked hater of FG and it's ideology - He did what needed doing in that broadcast.
The next few days with detailed assistance measures will be the time to criticise if they fall short.

What were the other 6 times that a Taoiseach addressed the nation? De Velera in response to Churchill? Jack Lynch? Charlie Haughey telling us to tighten our belts?

My wife works in a pharmacy. I'm working from home with the kids. She is our biggest worry now. Where's one of the first place a sick person goes? Into their pharmacy. She's doing her best by washing her hands and using sanitiser but they have been unbelievably busy with customers in the last couple of weeks. It's an ill wind that doesn't blow for someone, her boss is taking in twice what he normally does in a day.

Keep at least 2 meters away from customers. Plenty of ventilation.

It was a good speech. One thing I did not like was that he borrowed from Churchill but I can forgive that. I do not support FG but in fairness, we are lucky he and his pals are at the helm. This govt has a bit of experience already and since he is a doc himself, at least he knows first hand what our system is capable of. Anyway, I think I have no choice but root for them.

Felt like he had watched Presidents speech from Deep Impact or Armageddon - very articulate but over the top.....Very frightening and looking at figures from rest of the world there is no need....25,000 in a Italy have picked up virus from 60,000 million and yet from 5 million we will have 15,000 in a few days....Speeches like that terrify people...

Is there a company/work WhatsApp group? If so there should be information. If not i would nominate one member of staff to be liaison with HR or Boss. I think until there is information forthcoming from the employer, make yourself available but don’t go in unless directed. If can work from home then do. If can’t then there is troubling times ahead.
