Ok, Have to ask, what the fück do you want him to say and/or do?

I don't think he's necessarily doing anything wrong at the moment but people bowing down before him for putting a speech together (with help I'd imagine) is a bit irritating. I hope he's putting measures together for homeless people/direct provision centres.

For everyone strung out on this thread complaining that nothing new was said, just think of older people who probably only consume RTE news nightly.

My experience in Dublin city centre over the past few days would suggest otherwise unfortunately.
The people you meet in the City Centre don't necessarily represent all of Ireland though. Give people some credit.

He referenced Churchill's Battle of Britain speech.

    Solid speech.

If there was a General Election after the crisis, he could get a result

Mary Lou spoke a lot better than Leo and Michael Martin in the debates and many times in the Dail but anyway..........

    Well done Leo, serious stuff.

Feels like we're at war, which I guess we are in a way.

Far from a good speech imo. The way it was pre-announced it had everyone thinking it was going to be a big important announcement.

But no, just thanks lads you're all doing a great job.

Nothing new. No info. Just back patting.

Excellent speech. When you look at the mish mash crap coming from leaders of so many other countries our leaders get at A+.

We are in good hands and have a government we can trust, that’s more then many. Clear message of what’s possibly to come, this is so important to fight this.

Superb, this is exactly what I imagined we needed and our leaders are not letting us down.

Leo: We'll be fine, don't worry. It'll be grand.

Also Leo: You should be absolutely f*cling terrified, and will likely die.

I have to imagine you had the wrong channel. He did not say the second thing in the slightest. This is the sort of utter and complete nonsense he asked people to stop going on about.

Some difference between Leo and Boris..

Exactly what my 17 yr old daughter said.

Great address from Leo. There was nothing remarkable about what he said, but he done an excellent job of summing up the current mood in the country, on what's a very a poignant day for us.

    Powerful, honest and sobering.

It's time people realised that this is only just beginning and we need to pace ourselves through this.

As a grandparent in his 60s, with children in the front line of the medical services, I've never experienced anything like this and, to be perfectly honest, I'm finding it all very sad and quite scary.

It's been posted countless times. ~30% increase a day brings us to that figure

Yes but with the measures put in place you would expect the case numbers to not rise at that rate in a weeks time for example

Non FG/FF/SF voter here...Leo and Simon and co. are coming across really well to me as a concerned citizen. I'm also appreciative of the likes of FF and SF and other parties for not trying to politicise this or see a political opportunity in the crisis.

The three boyos, Leo, Harris and Coveney. They’ll go down in history and will be held in high regard for what they’re doing to tackle this and assure the public

It was more to reassure the nation. Lot of loss out there already from this. And, to tell us tfat this is going on well past March 29...very good speech.

That's a proper leaders speech. Honest, concise, no ego

Good speech from Leo. Why are some disappointed that there’s “nothing new”?? He’s checking in with the nation on our most culturally significant day. It’s important to keep engaged. Not gonna lie I nearly cried when he described the elderly as “our most precious”.
    He’s doing a good job.

    Spot on.

I dont get why they think whats coming will be so bad. It seems like they are expecting what happened in Italy, but weve already closed schools and most of the population are isolating, how bad could it possibly get?
