    Leo has tested positive

Anything to be said for immediately and permanently banning people who post unsubstantiated or fake news?

This 15000 figure is looking quite likely...

    Serious!

Was there much need for a TV address, given he said nothing new?

I was expecting all non food shops and public transport to be locked down.

I was expecting him to show off his socks but that was some speech I must admit.

I find him particularly patronising tonight. He actually used the sentence "Not all heroes wear capes". Seriously.

A rake of condescending clichés, as far as I'm concerned.

He seriously didn't say that did he

    Excellent speech IMHO.

He's top class with speeches - a shambles with a lot of the other stuff though.

No, this is a generalised motivational speech. Most of us are already imbued with common sense Leo. We need hard statistics.

My experience in Dublin city centre over the past few days would suggest otherwise unfortunately.

What's condescending about that? Looks like you had your opinion made already and are just trying to fit something into it.

    Are people actually giving out??

Seems they are disappointed there isn't a lockdown.

    No excitement for them.

GREAT fckin speech and way beyond what USA and UK are doing. Thanks Leo.

I thought he spoke well. A little corny in parts but his delivery was good and warm. Light though on details re the financial hardship facing us though.

I did like his speech, especially about everyone standing together globally throughout this nightmare, but the main thing I took from it was that “could” = “will”.

    Imagine Mary Lou doing that
    Brilliant from Leo.

Nothing new no - but the old news needs repeating and repeating, rinse and repeat - just like washing the hands.

There are still people not taking it as seriously as they should.

Followed by ''they wear scrubs'' etc paying tribute to front line staff. There was merit in it.

Honestly do not see where they are getting this from.

Would give us the highest per capita case numbers in the world

    From modelling, Stephen.

He is pointing out there is a shít storm coming up and VERY soon.

Its is going to go on for months well into the summer.

Asking that older people cocoon themselves and gen public to social distance.

This is all about not overwhelming the limited health resources and ventilators that we have in Ireland.

I found him very good. And the **** I read in this forum is exactly what he is talking about.. who was that gob****e who said he is pal was a guard and that the army are deployed a you need documents .. it’s that kind of **** that scars people.

    This thread should be closed

The narrower a man’s mind, the broader his statements.

So so glad we have Varadkar in charge of our little nation of 4.8m while Boris and Trump mess with the lives of 450 million people.

I’m not a Leo fan boy but that was an epic speech. True leadership.
