The growth rate has a striking resemblance to where Italy was 10 days ago, ~30% day on day.

The words of Dr Michael Ryan resonated with me yesterday and for anyone that did'nt see it i'll post it below.

Fair City looks daft tonight. They filmed for their paddy’s day night a couple weeks ago I guess and they are all in the pub drinking. Scriptwriters should be sacked.

They film about 6 weeks in advance. You think the scriptwriters should be sacked for that? They've done worse ðŸ˜

I am guessing closing restaurants and all shops bar chemists and supermarkets?
Anyone else any idea what likely?

There will be no shutdown. Our figures aren't nearly high enough. Lockdown is a method to close the valve for a week or so before opening again to infect some more people. This will happen in cycles over the weeks ahead.

It takes between one and two weeks to see the effect of any preventative measures taken. The incubation period of the virus dictates that.

The BIG problem all along is that we have been reactive, not proactive.

If you wait for the figures to be 'High Enough' you are at least 7 days behind the curve.

    *sigh*

I have it on goo authority (my nephews best friend who is an Aquarious and has red hair) that Leo's announcment us as follows:

He knows we are all sick of Covid-19 so he is introducing a 'Name d'Virus competition'.

It costs €0.50 to enter by text with 'VIRUS', your name and suggestion to 1916696969.

Entries close at midnight on 29 March 2020 after which any entries will not be added but you will be charged.

    My nomination is Virus McVirusface.

    Best of luck

Don't talk rot. A mortgage is how people secure a stable home for themselves.

I'm always polite to service people and appreciative of them anyway, but they are especially standing out to me lately. A lot of us can stay at home, some of us have no choice and were made redundant, but the people manning the shops that we need to stay open are Trojans IMO.

That's why I was beyond pissed off earlier tonight to walk into the shop of a local filling station to the scene of 5 scrotes tormenting the cashier. It doesn't matter what happened next, but it got a reaction out of me and is still pissing me off. I encountered the same situation at a garage in the vicinity 2 years ago, but at that time we didn't have a national crisis and global pandemic. Not to excuse the scrotes of 2 years ago, but those of tonight are beyond comprehension.

These vermin are an absolute drain on society at the best of times, and now during the worst of times while we're all banding together, they could not give one fúck and are scumming on as per usual, just making things worse. Where are the parents? I think we all know the answer to that in most cases.

I will be quite content to see a heightened Garda presence in the next while. Otherwise, little fúcks like these will run riot. Waiting for some kind of conscience, common sense or parenting to kick in is pointless.

RTE: From some knobhead with a pink jumper around his shoulders talking about how great a couch is to an emergency political address.

Seems some people are excited at a lockdown.

Its not gonna happen and it would be a disaster.

Oh its is going to happen. It the only way we can survive this shítstorm without too many needless deaths.

We have to reduce numbers so that there are enough healthcare staff and ventilators to treat people SO we don't have to do what they are doing in Italy and making decisions on a daily basis about who lives and who dies.

If people refuse to cooperate with what have been requests up until now, new emergency powers will be in by end of week.
