Unless you’re making life support machines for a living a complete staff walkout would be justified if they let him come to work

    Offices should be closed nationwide.

Absolute BS whats happening. Peoole getting on public transport. Hotbed for viral transmissions.

As a human I feel bad for the human race, the wanton pursuit of wealth and experience is what will be likely be our downfall, mother nature is now trying to put a kerb to these things,we should take heed or we will be forced to, Greta's coming will save us Amen

Well I was privy to information that wasn't in the public sphere, it did not have a date but it was expected to be announced sunday after a meeting with government but the actions Saturday night seemed to have cooled the Jets. Lesson learned there on calling a time as it wasn't stated for definite when the plan kicks in. I do still believe we will see it shortly, tbh were half way there already.

If you are hinting at a full lockdown being announced I dont think anyone will be surprised. So far in this crisis, everything the government has said will not happen, has happened.

What do you want them to do?

They could turn into that super state over night. The one that Brexiteers told us about.
Then they would have the power to force every EU country to give up on their own effort to help Italy.

But out senior EU rep isnt lying about how we tried to contain it while the facts show they let many people fly in and out while things were obviously quite bad.

We shouldnt have let them in but this italian guy trying to blame the EU is just scapegoating.

Ok ... so we wait until it's 'quite bad' here and then we will be in the same place as they are and do the same things.

I didn't realise that was the plan.

I've never been Leo Varadkar's biggest supporter if I'm being completely honest...

However, does anyone else feel a small bit more reassured in this particular scenario, that our country is being led by a qualified doctor... rather than our friends next door, who are being led by a... erm... qualified game show contestant??

I'm not sure how good a doctor Leo is/would have been... but at least he should have some sort of rudimentary understanding of what the HSE will be facing over the next few weeks and months? And as such, should be well placed to make sensible decisions to help them and the country get through this!

That's my thinking anyway... for whatever it's worth! (Although I sincerely hope the UK can get through this too, obviously!) :)

I have to be honest, my criticism for Leo during this crisis is limited, but not non existent. Better than it was before.

Case confirmed at UCC anyway. Good thing they closed the colleges!

I thought they’d given up contact tracing as it is not worthwhile once you have over a certain number of cases?

The issue with that idea is those bills will add up and still have to be paid. You'll still need to be putting money aside for them. If anything it might cause further stress waiting for the eventual massive bill.

Now is the time to cut out shyte like 100 euro+ monthly sky packages, 60 quid mobile packages (if out of contract), look at all those tenner a month subscriptions (which add up rapidly), gym membership (you probably can't use anyway) etc.

Cut back where you can. It's good advice anytime really

So if you disconnect netflix and sky but have to remain inside what do you do?

If I PM you can I gain access to that whatsapp group?

It's not WhatsApp. If I let you on the WhatsApp you'd be very concerned about what danger front line staff are in across the country, as I stated when I can facuate the problem the don't know is there I'll post it, could be a couple of days though.
We need to name business premises where there has been cases as a matter of urgency and isolate those who've been there for a few days.

I genuinely believe the UK are trying to kill the elderly, I cannot fathom any other reason for their dithering approach

Any word how many of the 223 cases have been hospitalised? Or are the majority just self isolating at home.

I know of two who are home from hospital fully recovered

That seems to be the plan. Let people gather in work environments for as long as possible. Run public transport etc also.

To be fair of course a pharmacist would be raging over that. They make a tonne of money selling the stuff.

I think they should priorities it for contacting front line people asap, how much damage can a nurse, doctor, garda, solder do in a small space of time to our front line. If that falls were ****ed to put it mildly.

Are the off licence times today based on normal Tuesday times or would it be like Sunday times?

So if you disconnect netflix and sky but have to remain inside what do you do?

Read a book. Work on your memoirs? Learn to play cards? Put a jigsaw together?
DIY work, if you are that way inclined.
A bit of exercise. People coped with life years ago without Netflix and Sky.

Yeh. Ours isnt to far ahead imo.

They are taking the advise of their medical experts. They are saying schools wont have much of an impact on the spread. What have we done apart from hit the easy targets like pubs and schools thats way above what the brits havent done?

The water in the Venice canals is clear since the lockdown: https://twitter.com/ikaveri/status/1239660248207589383?s=21

I've been to Venice several times, amazing to see the clarity of the water now.

Some large jumps outside Europe again this morning

    Malaysia +108
    Philippines +45
    Indonesia +38
    Thailand +30
    Iraq +21
    Kazakhstan +22
    Mexico +30

Most of the world now appears to be at the stage most of Western Europe was at about a week ago

No one is sure if they can't get it again. There is not enough accurate data yet, only time will tell.

So if you disconnect netflix and sky but have to remain inside what do you do?

Pick one or the other, or strip out the stuff like HD addons, sky sports (not much on anyway), look at getting a freesat box (a straight replacement if you don't have SkyQ etc)

Same thing with mobiles. Stop paying Vodafone 60+ a month when you can get the same thing cheaper elsewhere (again, assuming you are out of contract)

There's lots of savings to be made with minimal real sacrifice.

Yeh years ago socialising wasnt banned and they could get out and about. Ffs. If we go into a stricter lockdown, which is doubtful, people will need a distraction.......a jigsaw. Mother of jaysus.

Getting those flat-pack hospitals China erected in 6 days could be a good idea.

Have they started to publish recovered patients yet? This will become an important number over time.

Thats more constructive than building a jigsaw to be fair.
