Why scale it for population. Country size is a rather arbitrary benchmark.

32% growth rate is not good.

We are at China daily growth levels now pre lock-down

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,591 ✭✭✭gabeeg

    Still fairly linear growth....

No, it's doubling very few days.

Exact same trajectory as our neighbours really

We're getting a pretty consistent growth. No outlandish spikes. And thankfully no new deaths.

Like watching a horror movie every night with the numbers going up, the hardest test for our generation, numbers on sky news sobering to say least, 250k deaths in best case scenario. Unreal that we are in the midst of this.

Just wondering how may cases have you heard of roughly in the drogheda area ? Thanks

Make sense with all the extra testing that there would be an increase.

Exactly, population density is also a huge factor.

Do we know how many actually came over?

Do you ever just think it's a combination of the world nowadays? Irish people travel the world and meet other people who travel the world and people who travel the world come to Ireland.

The only way to have stopped this is to have banned all travel in and out of the country when the virus was first discovered in China and that was never going to happen.

No point now in looking back and deal with it now.

The government really needs to just shut everything down. I don't know what they're waiting for.
It's not something they want to consider. Greater social distancing only.

And we are importing even more riddled fúcks from Spain. We are already overwhelmed and still too slow to shut down flights.

Why did we set out to emulate fcking Italy.

I can guarantee you there are no Spanish coming into the country. Those flight are getting Spanish students (generally teenagers who have been in ireland since Sepember 2019) back to their families and Irish holiday makers back home from Spain

To be expected really when you do more testing.

No surprise that we're seeing numbers going up

If Leo & company project 15,000 cases by end of March, why not lockdown the country now? At least try to stymie growth instead of emulating the Italian model.

This was like a slow burner from January and February. But March, particularly the last two weeks, it just seems its spreading everywhere. Prognosis on the news appears more and more grim. Hopefully we shall turn a corner soon.

Amazing how things can change so quickly.

All eyes on Kursk. Slava Ukraini.

Hope some of the betting shops don't open up after this pandemic blows over.

Plague on society and I see Ladbrokes have announced they are remaining open
