    For this sitting I fancy:

    Causation
    Vicarious
    Passing Off
    Limitations
    Damages
    Nervous Shock
    Trespass to Person
    Negligent Misstatement

    ideal paper would be:

    passing off
    vicarious liability
    trespass to the person
    nervous shock
    damages

    one can dream!!

I think five solid questions is a luxury tbh. I got it in criminal last week and it really hampered my feelings after company and EU when I only got 4 strong and one weak. Need to remember I was only confident in three questions with two wing-it questions when I took constitutional last sitting.

I came out with 55 there so it can be done!

Yeah for sure, this sitting I've usually got something like 3 good questions and 2 average. If you have 4 strong Qs you will almost always be safe with a weak 5th. 2 12/20 questions allows a 6/10 after all, very easy to pick up those 6 marks

Did anyone choose not to sit the exams prior to the email announcement? I wonder if the Law society would consider letting us sit before October, if there’s a sitting on?

I actually travelled to and stayed in a hotel the night before what would’ve been my second-last exam but I really didn’t feel comfortable doing it as myself and my mother have serious health conditions and my dad’s just had surgery. I decided not to do it on the morning, and instead drove the 4 hours home! I felt I had a real good chance of starting in Blackhall this year, but for me, it wasn’t worth the risk. I was delighted to see the email from the Law Society and think they should take other people into account and afford us an opportunity too? I mean, it is a pandemic and just because the government hadn't halted it before that, most candidates must have had some concern at least.

What exam was it for? I believe they are only going to have sittings of EU and Tort in the summer

I think they’d let you. The floodgates opened for everyone once they allowed a handful of people to carry previous passes forward. In the circumstances you should be allowed to sit too.

Separately I think the idea that any additional sitting would be restricted to those who emailed the law society after their offer of deferring is unlikely. They’ll be only too happy to accept the exam fees if anyone wanting to sit.

Thanks for replies guys. I think I'll get in contact with them about it Monday. There's bound to be more than me in the same boat! The thought of waiting another year for Blackhall is pretty rough.

It was company and contract. The contract exam was Wednesday and the email came afterwards.

^^ Can people use their previous passes from 2019?! E.g., they passed 2 of their first 3??

Yes a number of people have carried one, never mind the two. You need to apply for the exemption. Not one person who applied has been refused afaik. Certainly nobody has said they were refused in this thread that I am aware of. I carried iwo from October and I know someone who carried two from March of last year.

I hope to god Public Authorities Liability doesn't come up as a Problem Q.

Haven't studied it but keep getting unfounded thoughts of it coming up for some reason.

I’m exhausted Christ, wish tort had been first

I’m giving it a skip too! Came up the last two sittings I think!

Having a serious mental block with studying Tort atm

Negligence is a brutal slog to get through, considering just covering Causation

I’m only doing causation and the evolution of DOC

Think I'll follow you on that, categories of DOC is horrendous, at least with DOC and SOC up last sitting it might be in our favour

Loosing the will for tort at this stage so much to cover left it way too late :(

I’d be grateful I think. Have worked so hard upto now but am just so fatigued. Tried to get up early and go at it this morning and ended up having to go back to bed for a nap earlier haha

Im actually worn out with all the news.Spain is now heading for lockdown and for someone who wasn't initially panicking im finding it very difficult to study for an exam with all this going on. Tried to nap not happening. Apologies do not mean to demotivate the thread just very stressed.

Are the tort questions hard? I’ve scanned papers but as usual am afraid to look any more!!!! I’ve left out defamation, defences & animals/fire

No I think the questions themselves are usually alright. The difficulty with tort is the amount of topics you have to cover really. However, the causation questions can be very tricky. But just remember to work through the various tests and you should be fine

If you're only leaving out those topics you will be fine

Yes I’ve come across a few prob qs that don’t look like ANY topic but are then causation! Does that mean you need to go through but for material contribution etc etc?! And negligence principles?

Yeah the facts are usually really complex for the causation Q. Just remember your first step is always factual causation, can I apply but for, can I apply material contribution, move on to legal, is there a novus, does egg shell apply, remoteness...I find the questions can be really confusing but if you work logically through the tests it kind of falls into place. Also I'm guessing that even if you apply the tests incorrectly to the facts, just by applying the tests and giving the relevant cases you should pick up marks

Aw thank you that is sooo helpful. Yes I’m sure if the law is correct you’ll pass the question at least! I know I should have done defamation but couldn’t face it, it’s huge but it seems to be up every single year.

Sorry to be so full of questions but is causation usually the first q or is it random ?

What are people cutting for Tort? I was planning on cutting vicarious and animal/fire only but with the virus etc my concentration is gone down the toilet and won't make it through everything.

    Appreciate any gut feelings too
