You would also be living under a rock if you did not know that BanditLuke appeared on the Horse Racing Coronavirus Cheltenham forum and offered his opinions many times.
The word banned is in bold under one of his posts.

The only upside to this is that the inevitable public backlash to the decision to let the festival go ahead will hopefully hasten the demise of this anachronistic "sport".

Don’t be silly. Horse racing is a multi billion industry that helps keep the country afloat.

Nobody wants to see gambling banned. Cant happen.

But what can happen is every single bet placed in a betting shop in this country get the same excise duty placed on it the same way they do for tobacco and booze.

2 euros a bet should do it.

Will help pay for this whole mess, and make no mistake this will have to be paid for.

Anything that purely exists for gambling will be gone soon, that rubbish included.

There’s already a 2% levy. Goes back to the horse and greyhound industry every year in the budget.

Big spike in divorce rates on the way!

    Haha!
Yes people have such busy lives they don’t get stuck together for long periods anymore, sporting events cause baby booms due to euphoria and alcohol in the mix!
This thing as you said will cause a spike in divorce rates when people realise they have f all in common!
Crime will surely spike, no witnesses with everyone at home

I had an operation on Wednesday 10th, got out on Sunday 14th. This evening was my first time outdoors.
I did a little shop in Tesco. There was zero vegetables and zero pasta.
I got the last bag of pastilles so I am sorted.
Down to my last bog roll and I forgot to look in Tesco to see if there was any. :o

I don't want a levy to go back to the horses and the dogs, I want a excise duty placed on every single bet, just like its placed on every single drink, every single pack of fags. To help pay for wider society. Lets see that come in to force like it used to be.

Audiobooks are great as are podcasts

Origami for kids is a really cheap thing to do.

It is nearly like the internet was ideal for such a situation

I would imagine that the various taxes, direct and indirect are already doing just that.

No. They are not. If "gambling aint going away" then whats the problem, let the gamblers pay excise duty on their recreation the same way others have to.

    2 euro tax per bet.

I do and it's all my own money too.;)
I also work hard ,pay taxes, do some voluntary work
In my community and if the time comes when the country needs volunteers to steer us through this crisis I won't be found wanting there either.

Sounds great but unfortunately I'll be still out working while trying to keep kids from going demented too.

That’s all good. I’m no fan of horse racing (mainly because it’s boring and takes up time on tv) but if you want to spend your own money on bets then I think you should be free to do that. I just think the nanny state is going to come hard for it like everything else.
