Yes but surely they should confirm virus then carry out contact tracing. Just because this person feels OK, doesn't mean he hasn't been sitting beside someone in the middle of cancer treatment, or elderly.

I thought this was a notifiable disease. The individual has done their part, the HSE has not.

    Wishing them a speedy recovery
Why have they not done their part? Self-isolation will do just as well with mild symptoms.

What amazes me about this whole thing is it's known a strong immune system is the best defense to any infection or virus

Yet no one is focusing on strenghtening their immune system with vitamin C or iodine or ginger, garlic etc. Foods, vitamins minerals etc.

Everyone focused on meaningless trivial crap like 'wipes' that do nothing or hand sprays that do nothing either for the immune system. Just money making rackets at the minute.

Like with coronavirus as some have said why not let the body get exposed to it immune system fight it off and it's done for.

Seems it's only killing the very elderly and as pointed out despite all the fear mongering the common flu kills umpteen more people every single year.

Remember the olden days with measles?. People knew if a child got measles then they would never get it again. It was done for.

I think the whole bulk buying of hand sanitizers is insane as they don't actually do anything.
Like a placebo if you will.

Uk showing a total lack of leadership with allowing Cheltenham to proceed. I think many race goers are gone racing toward illness or even death. Just pure stupid. Monetary greed over common sense.

You realise all English football is still going ahead? Why mention Cheltenham only?

It’s not only you, lots have singled out that one event for whatever reason.

What about all the football matches, rugby matches. other race meetings, etc, etc. that are continuing as normal with no restrictions? There needs to be a serious rethink on this by the UK government now. At least here it looks as if measures are going to be ramped up significantly.

Stop Cheltenham but allow 5 million use the tube in London daily. It’s all or nothing. There’s been more about Cheltenham been on etc than any other gathering in the Uk.
Call off Cheltenham fair enough but everything must go then. Total lockdown no point picking and choosing

Trump is diabetic? I didn't know. Type 2 presumably.

Over 70 AND underlying health problems, how delightful.

Best diabetic! Super Diabetic, his insulin response is the best insulin response!
He only got diabetes to show us other diabetics how to be better at it ;)

It kinda flies in the face of the statements from the Surgeon General recently tho?
But sure its not like the Don would be engaging in his own little cult of personality or anything ;)

That’s good. Proactive rather than reactive.

I liked how Leo managed the press conference yesterday. I don’t like what’s happening but he’s right, this is something none of us has ever experienced before.

We're not in the delay phase, we said eventually we will move into it but currently it's in the containment phase and that won't change at the moment.

Guidelines on mass gatherings to be publish shortly.

5 mins later HR girl sends an email saying it's her birthday, cake in the kitchen, about 15 of them in there now hugging kissing, laughing ....

So when wondering why it has spread so fast in Italy, and now is doing similar in Spain - take that into account.

    just astounding ....

    there was cake!
    FREE CAKE!

    Totally worth the risk

Mild symptoms doesn't make the any less contagious. If we were actually in containment phase then contact tracing should have been carried out

Do we have the capacity to do this though? I mean do we have enough gards and soldier to actually police such a lockdown? It’s a situation where our low population density could work against us

I think you already know the answer.

There's honestly that many factual inaccuracies in your post that I don't know where to begin. I hope no one takes any of your advice. Please do a bit more to educate yourself. Don't be one of those who forms your opinions based on the research you did in your own head.

Nobody is making people go to Cheltenham. Everyone is responsible for themselves.

I was an avid Cheltenham goer for many years but I wouldn’t go to this festival.

    We’re in delay phase now?

    Just after the denial stage

Will Italian measures be enough? The northern lockdown looked a shambles from sky news reporting yesterday. Understandably so, Europe is no China.

Nobody went to work in wuhan. People did not leave their homes for almost 2 months.

Crazy times to be living in. Watching all this happening in China a few months ago I never truly believed it would happen in Europe!

Heard it from a friend of a friend etc etc.
No source or anything. Take with a pinch of salt.
He/she said they've confirmed 19 cases in Cork.
    He/she works in CUH.

Coveney was asked on Morning Ireland when we could expect to move to the delay phase and he replied that in a lot of ways we are in that phase now. Maybe it was his own personal opinion rather than an official Government statement but he did say it.

    UK still exporting cases
    From the Guardian live update:
"Over in Greece this morning the infection rate has risen from 84 to 89 overnight, according to the country’s health ministry.
One of the cases, it said, had been “imported” from London."

And again self-isolation can address that and they do seem to have carried out contact tracing. If we do get to much larger numbers it will be down to the most severe cases being under medial care and anyone with a fever to stay home.

Look at scenes in an empty Venice today, because no tourists are there. I believe anyone in any country will do what it takes because the consequences of not doing it will be too crippling.

Some will also get sick, have families to care for, be quarantined, told to self isolate too.

this italian lockdown...i seen them say that people can only move around freely for a few specific reasons and one was "to work"....i'm wondering what services are shut down and which are open....like are mail deliveries affected ?...public transport for those allowed to travel ?...etc.

My wife is in overdrive on this. We're heading down home this weekend and she wants to by those plastic surgical gloves for us all to wear on toilets breaks - it's around a 6/7 hour journey.

Mother-in-laws flight is going ahead tomorrow from Milan. Return flight is cancelled.

Wife already had a 'contingency' plan already should the return flight get cancelled. Words were thrown last night but she got last call. Police could still reject her from leaving though. She needs to fill out some form of some sort to leave. It will be BAU for them but self-isolate for me as per company instructions.

    Stupid, just utterly stupid.

No I don't think anyone did. Just to think just a few short months ago most people thought that a hard Brexit would be the huge risk to our way of life. I would hazard a guess not too many care about that right now.

This is something I've always done for me and my family. It's so simple and helps against much more than the Coronavirus.

resuscitation is reanimation in French / rianimazione in Italian. It's just direct translation.
