    Misery porn here.

    I feel for you morons.

No elderly or vulnerable relatives? Any friends at all?

    I feel sorry for you.

I think it will swing West. And we here are very vulnerable.

Hopefully not, but we have to keep an eye on UK to see what's happening there..

I know of 1 HSE unit that havent even received the medical packs being distributed for staff. Very hard to have any faith. Also an increase to €305 euro is all well and good but unfortunately it wont cover mine or alot of peoples bills.

Simon Coveney is doing a good interview with Claire Byrne at the moment (in my opinion.)

The aim seems not to try to stop the virus spreading in Ireland but to extend the period (minimise the rate) of spread to allow the health service to have a chance of coping. Cork up first based on community spread, presumably with incubation periods they believe there are enough people already affected to mean containment unlikely.

Not liking that all community cases are in Cork. Never thought Id prefer to be living in another part of Ireland.

Cork always wanted to be the center of attention

Based on our cases so far, our first case was Sunday 1st March. By end of week 1, we had approximately 20 cases. Given the trend of doubling about every 7 days, by end of this week we should have about 40 cases, 80 cases next week, 160 the end of week 4.
By week 10 we'll have about 10,000 cases.
    If this spreads unchecked.

Coveney looks like he is in shock on Claire Byrne. It looks like the government got a serious wake up call at the briefing today.

The moves today are really encouraging. They will save lives and it looks like it has shaken a lot of people out of their overconfidence.

I’m so glad efforts have ramped up. This will slow the spread and save lives compared to the previous efforts.

    Next steps:
    1. Stop flights from certain countries / eventually close all airports.
    2. Delay the Leaving Cert and college exams until later in summer.
    3. Build capacity and ruthlessly prioritise medical resources.
    4. Look at closing restaurants, pubs, churches, schools etc and just hunker down.

It’ll take some time for it to get to the levels where those things happen but they are likely to end up happening.

Overall though so glad that they have reacted to the briefing.

This will be the norm for the majority of people.

He didn't even have a mild case. Just a fever.

Yeah well the banks and utility companies and whomever else you pay a bill to are just going to have to work something out because there may be tens of thousands in your shoes.

Believe me, this is very much their problem, not yours.

When the time comes, just make sure you take your spare money out of the account usually tapped for direct debits and make sure you have it for essential spending on food and fuel.

Looking at other forums there is this mentality of I'm alright Jack, but as you say no thought whatsoever for those who may contract it from an asymptomatic person to their friends and family who may be totally vulnerable.

But hey it's each to their own. Nothing wrong with me.

That’s probably the save for most people but they can’t be expected to give individuals 100% of what they are paid. Private employers will need to chip in where possible. Not all will be able to but if it’s life of death you won’t care about missing a mortgage payment or adding a year on to the end of your mortgage if you make it to the end of your mortgage.

That's the same for any "technical" thread you may want. We cannot allow anyone to be formally advising on this issue. People who post need to understand none of us are experts (whatever anyone may claim). We already have a sticky with links to reliable sources of information. If anyone thinks we can make useful additions to that sticky drop me a PM
