    Marketing?

Lets visit our nation in the middle of a pandemic.

Lets create jobs in our country so that it's economy doesn't stall and people starve because we can't afford the dole visits.

Covid19 is already here. It will not be stopped and will run its course. We hope to slow it down so that we can be better prepared but Leo going to the white house won't do that. Get a grip of yourself.

Dr John has said the Italian quarantine of the northern regions is a disaster as there is an exodus from the area to the rest of Italy and abroad.

You guys are so naive to the soft power Ireland has from this. But I suspect your comments are mainly because of personal issues with lack of confidence or the simple fact it's because of who is in government.

Inevitable. But their version of lockdown means you can go about your business anyway. Take the train, bus, drive and feck off to wherever you want, just don't go to the airport. Or does it mean that?

It seems to mean the opposite... I think you can fly out of Milan but not get from Milan to Rome by car or train.

They must have received a massive payoff from the EU to lock down the whole country.

Does everyone know now you can only buy one pack of paracetamol?

The Italian Prime Minister has just declared the whole of Italy a red zone.

I heard it reached as far as Leitrim and decided the place looked too desolate, bombed out and depleted and turned around.

The post apocalyptic wasteland of Leitrim... I wouldn't blame it

Every country that has cases should go into lockdown and deal with the cases they have.

Drastic but necessary or the basterd of a virus won't be stopped.

The country will erupt. Did you see how they reacted when they couldn’t visit prisoners on C4 news?

No Western nation will be able to implement the Chinese approach.

They could hardly enforce the northern quarantine.

Don't see how possible for the whole country.

Any restrictions on ibuprofen yet? Or can I stockpile them.

This is the government rubbish they use to justify this embarrassment. Why can't Ireland invite people here instead for Patrick's Day?

    From the Guardian:
All of Italy will be placed under the lockdown conditions thus far imposed upon the so-called “red zone” in the north of the country, the Italian prime minister Giuseppe Conte has said. The restrictions will include banning all public gatherings and preventing all movement other than for work and emergencies. According to the Reuters news agency, he has said the decision was necessary to protect Italy’s most vulnerable citizens and that the right course of action now is for people to stay at home.

"All movement other than for work". So how is that a lockdown if people are still expected to go out to work? It doesn't seem to be on the same scale as what was implemented in china.

Strange there are no cases in the nw of ireland.

I know it's only a matter of time.

Maybe the virus is making it's way up the crap roads to the nw! Takes longer to get here.

There’s no stopping the virus spreading but if slowed down it gives medical services some chance on responding effectively to it.

Yes. One pack of paracetamol per person. It’s been like that for 23 years.

They must have received a massive payoff from the EU to lock down the whole country.

This could cause a major recession in Italy. Which in turn could cause the whole EU to be in trouble. Scary and fascinating at the same time.

Will foreign people be able to leave or enter the quarantine zone?

    Locking down all of Italy?

****ing hell. That's a game changer.

The Italian's won't like that, but it's either that or a large proportion of elderly people are going to die.

I think this further illustrates how much of a mess the Italians have made of this.

Yes it's lack of self confidence and personal issues. That's it.

Maybe we want the country to have a little bit of respect for itself.

You can't disagree with someone without assuming they have personal issues. Great strategy.

No clarity on what this "lockdown" actually means for Italy.

Will Irish citizens be allowed to return to Ireland now?

Embarrassing then? How insecure are we?

Do you really think all that happens on these visits is that the taoiseach and POTUS sit in a room for an hour or so and exchange a shamrock? These are annual trade talks as such to multiple countries around the world that generate jobs for Ireland.
