I wish people would inform themselves of the real info before making wild stupid comparisons.

They built a prefab facility and had the prefab manufacturing capacity to make these prefab room.
How they got that capacity was that they told the factories to stop everything they were working on and work solely on prefab rooms 24/7.

They then got workers to work 12 hours a day 7 days a week with fek all breaks to get the job done in a way that it was sort of useable

Very few medical facilities are in these "hospitals" - effectively its a big group of quarantine rooms stuck together like a lego building and single storey. Suit the situation - but its no hospital in the way you or I would expect

They will probably be dismantled when there use is no longer required.

Also, they never have been filled to more than 50% of capacity

In the vast majority of cases all that is required is isolation and food, a person with basic medical knowledge to supervise a group of patients etc.

Like using a Ferrari to pull a horse box, not needed for this job.

Are many offices working from home? Seems a lot of friends and family have been told to work from home for 2 weeks or indefinitely.

Noticing the trains have been unusually more quiet the last few days. The IFSC is strangely quiet too.

Area around Grand Canal is eerily quiet too, have to feel sorry for the coffee shops and small traders around.

Have been taking Vitamin D myself for over a year. Did'nt suffer from any flu in that time. The benefits down played alot in the medical community because of greedy Pharmaceutical companies

The right thing to cancel the Dublin parade, however it should of been done 2 weeks ago.

Leo should not be going to the states at all. Muppet

    Its a disgrace Joe!

No new cases today? Or do we find out at 8.30?

If the virus reaches it potential worst levels of infections, the most vulnerable are still the older population with compromised health.
We need perspective here, we cannot shut down the country to protect the minority who don’t contribute at present.
Shutting down parades will do little to stop this.
The vulnerable need to be isolated, not kids and healthy adults.

i'm pure stupid, i apologise in advance....but can you explain that to me like i'm a 4 year old please.

does each of the "2-3" have the same potential to infect another 2-3 and so on ?

My understanding (although someone might correct me) is when a person is infected, it can be for a couple of weeks. During those couple of weeks, the average number they will spread the virus to is 2-3 other people (2.5 is the figure I've seen).

So person A will spread it to 2-3 people over a couple of weeks. These 2-3 will spread it to a further 2-3 in the weeks that follow.

So its taking about a week to double figures.

    Week 1 - 1 person infected

    Week 2 - 2 people infected

    Week 3 - 4 people infected

    And so on.

Its the slow but steady growth where the problem is. Slowly more and more people getting infected, if left unchecked.

I’d be interested to know how many kids have actually been tested. If they are unlikely to die and unlikely to show bad symptoms, then surely very few have been tested outside of China (if tests aren’t easy to come by and held for severe cases)

Now that China is doing mass antibody testing and beginning to publish results, there should be some population-level antibody results soon that will show what % of children were infected.

46 new cases in the UK today, the numbers are not rising as quick in the UK or Ireland as they have been in Italy, Spain, France, Germany etc

Yes because of all the big social gatherings with 100k+ people in attendance that have been held in the last week or two.

Would you like me to throw myself off Newtown Head?

Absolutely not, what I would like is perspective.
Shutting down the economy is going to escalate issues to unthinkable levels.
I don’t think it’s absurd to isolate the vulnerable, and certainly not absurd to suggest business as usual for the rest, what’s the other option??
Shut the country down until a preventative drug is found??

A prefab hospital - wow big difference. Its still a hospital especially and exclusively for CV patients. This is the important part, prefab or not.

Would we be capable of anything similar? Or course not. Instead we are just going to stick them in our other hospitals, where potentially you could see it spreading unchecked.

The Chinese displayed monumental intelligence, courage and foresight when they decided to tackle this thing head on. Do any of those traits apply to our own government?

I've said it in a few threads the so called or self proclaimed elite will be rubbing their hands at this.

They love chaos, guts, gore and horrible situations.

Like so called vegans sharing animals being tortured on Facebook, the same simpletons

Good thing that the parade is off. I feel it was a sensible decision to wait until now to see. I think what we are seeing in the markets today will push us all back into 2008 mode when this clears though

    I’d love to know why.

If it’s “well they are islands” why do Iceland have a disproportionately higher amount infected? (Mind your only 2 new cases today)

I’d be interested to know how many people come in and out of Ireland daily to a comparable country in mainland Europe.

Where are people getting the information that says children can not get CoVid 19? I have googled it and no where can I find that?
