Indeed. BA are flying empty planes between Heathrow and Gatwick (and back again) just to keep their slots.

Serious question would it matter what type/size of plane they could use? To save on fuel etc

This is complete hosesh1t tbh, look after your own personal health and don't attend. Dont depend on a nanny state to make all the calls for people.

Again, I will not be going.

That is not the point. The point is why we about to let 100,000 visitors into our country.

I'd have no problem with empty flights. That's not what is happening though.

Full flights to and from a red zone, no screening at either end. Leaflets handed out at DA. No hope of contact tracing, none.

Free travel regulations means our hands are tied until they say so.

Free movement of people is one of the tenets of the EU... Sounds great... Until a virus arrives

They've tested over 1000 people here according to RTE news just now.

The mighty euro that's why. Economy wins out over public health.

Although I do think they will cancel it but not until later in the week which will be a bit late as usual.

Any Airbnb providers on here getting cancellations?
No but Im really worried about taking them loads from France, Germany Italy and they wont cancel. I tried to impose some restrictions to keep my home safe and protect myself and them by limiting their access to bedroom and bathroom only. Had a massive argument with Airbnb as one guest I asked would this be ok kicked off and said I was freaking out and she had paid for her breakfast and wanted it. She wouldn't cancel telling me too and Airbnb charge 100 dollars each cancellation. They wont accept any cancellations except for those people travelling from Restricted areas which at mo is only China, parts of Italy,

Its because the majority of them are young and no they arnt at risk but I am and Im also not prepared to put myself and my c ommunity at risk, the elderly and weak people . Im getting a sick note and stopping. I need the mon ey to pay my mortgage but the health of everyone in Cork and myself is more important. I'd rather be homeless.

No idea? But with no passengers/luggage/cargo, pretty light.

You do know how this thing spreads? because for you post you appear to have no idea

Clearly believes you can only acquire and not transmit infection.

Unfortunately, parades etc will affect everyone.
When the herd get's it, you're also more likely to get it, maybe a couple of weeks later.

This is one of those cases where we need Chinese style leadership. People may also have a human right not to catch this.

There is no "they". Each member state can implement restrictions on the basis of public health considerations. None of them have done so to date.
There is a "They", they're the EU.

Simon Harris has said it is not possible to close borders due to the free travel area within the Union.

Several Ryanair flights from Milan to Dublin appear to be sold out for next week and the week after.

In the next few days, flights have double and tripled in price, indicating strong demand for Milan to Dublin Ryanair flights.

Thanks Michael O'Leary and Ryanair, you've just condemned us all to a coronavirus epidemic, all in the name of a quick buck. Take a bow you muppets.

All the AerLingus flights to Milan are showing as ‘Sold out’ too.

    It means they are cancelled.

I reckon today's numbers could be big judging from the tone of Simon Harris earlier.

Its impossible to know. Just a few days ago there were ominous headlines of an impeding explosion in cases and I think it was about 7 or so increase if I remember right

I can fully understand a full flight from a red zone, but to a red zone  ? There are people doing that?

I'm sorry but you're trying to charge them the same for a lot less service. Have hand gel and keep a wide berth. Keep away from their rooms til they leave and you can wear a mask cleaning if necessary.

Or stump up and pay the cancellation fee. You advertised breakfast so they're entitled to it. Someone in the hospitality industry should know there's a risk of a visitor bringing an infection with them

I really hope not. I "generally" defend the HSE from a lot of the unfounded and incorrect allegations against them on here. BUT if they say 1 on Saturday, 2 on Sunday and then LOTS on Monday, it will make it seem like they have been asleep all weekend and only increase the criticism. This would be a massive own-goal if this happens.

Would it be an idea for people with cystic fibrosis to live in China for the duration? They are actually taking containment seriously and look like they may rid themselves of the disease. The chances of someone with CF dying from covid-19 must be very high, and if isolation isn't possible for them (and if there's increased healthcare pressure it won't be) they will be in a very tricky situation.
