I believe there are at least 200 cases in Cork alone.

Will you stop spouting random rubbish. No one cares what 'you' believe.

Fire healthcare workers during a pandemic? You're delusional.

if they go on strike during a pandemic they should absolutely be fired.

    Yeah, that's scary.

Might also be indicative of how the system is failing there.

Italy is us in 3 weeks.

Well, at least this thread should be fairly robust at fact checking some of that stuff.

The problem in the US in particular is fact and "I believe that.." seem to be on the same level and are fully interchangeable, and what was a very scientific and facts led society that had prospered on technology and so on is now full of paranoid hysteria and conspiracy theories and has an internet troll as president.

So perhaps, let's not go that direction!

Are most people planning to go to their place of work / study tomorrow, or to do the sensible thing and stay at home ?

That lab is way overworked as it is :(. Waiting list is 18 months to 2 years long.

??? waiting list for what sorry?

I know we send samples to them routinely and get results back in about 3 to 6 weeks depending on the test.

Union talks and concerns over litigation are going to look quaint soon judging by what it's like in Italy already.

They aren't going to go on strike. You know this! The vast majority of people who work in the HSE could earn a lot more by working in the private sector. But they don't as they find caring for our most vulnerable a lot more fulfilling. To a fault, the majority of HCPs are too nice for their own good. Do you see what a nurse earns for all the **** they have to deal with?

Most people don't really have a choice but to go. I can't work from home unfortunately.

Why don't you answer the numerous questions of where you got your numbers from or why you feel the need to spout random sh!te.

Pension is also important. But there will be no strike. Work only. The virus is coming. Be prepared

200 cases of very expensive whiskey at €35,000 a bottle I've heard!

Good question.. the prudent thing would be to stay away from such largely populated areas with people from all over the country and world, I haven't decided myself yet. Was hoping for direction from the institution but with no update it looks like at minimum they'll be running next week as normal.
Strange and unknown terriortary for all....

Debates on French TV focusing on economic impact, no mention on how to contain.
    nearly 1000 cases yesterday there

Yet I can confirm this. I watch some French TV and many commenters this week still calling it a slightly stronger flue and mostly interested in discussion the economic impact of possible containment measures.

But on the other hand this is also the message the French government has been sending in their press conferences ...

Thats not new news. Interview on rte radio this morning noted that the initial 60 staff told to self isolate is closer to 100.
