    https://www.rte.ie/news/ulster/2020/0304/1120222-drive-through/

A hospital in Northern Ireland is running a coronavirus drive-through testing and assessment service.

Highlighting how much of a shambles our preparations are down here.

Home testing by paramedics started in Dublin, Wicklow and Kildare today.

I've met a lot of people who are unhappy with the St. Patrick's Day Parade going ahead and there's fairly good grounds for it. We should organise a big march to Leinster House to let the government know what we think of them letting these crowds in.

I've never seen anything to suggest that politicians or civil servants really care what people think of their decisions.. or lack of making a decision. It's just deflected on to someone else.

Still..... a large march with a contagious disease around, just might scare them enough to actually commit to doing something... especially if you get the marchers to cough on the politicians and civil servants as they walk in/out of the area. :D

Up to the minute news here from kfrp

I’m hearing the UK is about to announce another 80 new cases discovered today. We should close the borders immediately

So we should, Coronavirus has no respect for the GFA.

Agree there. The trinity immunologist questioned the 15 minute HSE pronouncement today.

In fairness, I think the 15 minutes contact time is related to their ability to ‘contact trace’. That sort of figure allows them to state with a higher degree of probability that they’re traced everybody. If they made it smaller, the number of potential contacts would rapidly increase and the process could not be successful statistically.

Whether the 15 minutes figure relates to reality as the professor pointed seems very questionable.

    More an exercise in statistics.

There has been 3 cases confirmed in Belfast already... also how many flights a day are there landing in Belfast from Italy?

You can take a train from the affected area and be in Munich in well under 5 hours. Do we ban all flights from Germany, Switzerland, Austria, France...?

Inagh National School is to be closed from tomorrow for 14 days following on from a child who tested positive for Covid-19. Inagh is in County Clare.

    They gave us vodka..
And this cheap vodka seems to be the last easily available resource with a chance of slowing the WuFlu.

Ideally 50% (even then it's a bit lowish), maybe mix with 'AloeVera gel' into portable 100ml pump/spray containers, as a reminder that it's for hands only, and not internal use.

Presume chlorine would kill it immediately

Cough from the other day has now developed to a very dry cough, tickly and unusually, my temp has consistently been around 35.5. I’d take a bit of a Corona fever now just to warm up a bit! On the upside, I’m well stocked up with hand sanitizer!

I think that clip brings us to a whole new level of horrific - however, a school closing is surely the most horrific thing of all.

    Just horrific.

Well if becomes rampant here, our tourism, hotel, pub, taxi, etc. industries are fecked anyway, so I wonder what the logic is behind this from IBEC and the likes (who we know run the country anyway).

Maybe another week or two of exponentially increasing outbreaks will change their tune. Although I don't want that to happen either. Watch and wait is probably what they are doing.

My guess its pressure from insurance companies.
Flights, business if closed by gov would have insurance but if forced to stop on their own, no cover?
Only a guess tho. Otherwise mystified at delay.
They can see the same nunbers we can.
