I cant help but sense the outgoing government is handling this crisis like a bloke who already handed in his notice at the job and is mentally checked out, counting the days until he is out of there.
What would you like them to do?

The affected person has not used any form of public transport in the last two weeks. Close contacts in work have been asked to self isolate for two weeks while her teenage son is sent to school and husband who is a ticket inspector for Dublin works as normal.
A ticket inspector on Dublin bus....grand don't think I have seen one in my life...so he was probably back in the depot having tea the last few weeks

So what happens if a confirmed case was on a over crowded Dublin bus at 8:30 in the morning?

We'd never know since it'd be confirmed case in the "East" while we'd be assured everyone travelling with them on their unspecified mode of transport were contacted.
Anyone with symptoms would be refused a test on the grounds of not being able to prove they were in contact with a confirmed case.

In an interview with Sky News, Michael O'Leary hit out at "lunacy on social media" and "hysteria" in coverage of COVID-19's spread beyond China to European shores

    MOL on boards? :)

They are not taking the lead on this, it's the DoH and latterly the HSE who are managing it. Harris is just the mouthpiece.

I'm surprised Leo is being so quiet, the country is in a state of mild panic and worry and our political leader doesn't seem to want anything to do with it.

What if they've got a very limited number of test kits?

Here's the article with the last update the HSE gave on the numbers tested - "The number of people who have been tested for the disease is now over 100"

And here's the bit on procurement - "Mr Reid said procuring essential equipment to protect against the virus had been a major challenge for the health service due to “volatility” in the market but adequate stocks were available."

Now he didn't specifically say they had trouble sourcing testing kits, but for me it's the only obvious reason why they'd have only done a fraction of the testing that other countries did (per capita).

I didnt read jack... A mate who himself plays in an symphony band got this information and i shared it on here as a I thought it may be useful to people in the area, obviously I was incorrect as you pointed out, Now drop the attitude we are only trying to help.

Not helpful if its incorrect .
Can you verify your information, please?
We have connections with Artane, and I don't want panic started over nothing, hence my attitude, which I think up to now has been more polite than yours.

I thought Mary-Lou won the election and is about to be coronated Taoiseach? Last I heard she was bunkering down in Glasnevin to hide from the virus.

So what happens if a confirmed case was on a over crowded Dublin bus at 8:30 in the morning?

HSE: Did the bus visit an area of high infection?
    Bus: No
    HSE: No need to worry!

Or you know isolating herself and her kids as they went to the school that had the case....
But sure whatever suits your narrative.

BNO Newsdesk tweeted that news at 8:50 on Saturday about the positive diagnosis. What time was the band practice on the Saturday?
Regardless of whether he knew the result of test beforehand, what kind of parent would think it's a good idea to let him out and about until he had the all clear?

More surprised that the next Taoiseach in waiting, Micheal Martin, has had nothing to say about this.

The advice from the HSE was not to go to school but for everyone else in the house to continue on as normal.

By isolating herself, Mary-Lou is just adding to the hysteria around this.

I'm hoping the rise in daily South Korean figures is just a lag from pre macro containment measures. They are making the kind of effort that we would struggle to surpass and I would really like to see their daily case rate start to taper off. It feels like we might be sleep walking into disaster.

I know someone that was refused. No amount of negotiating or arguing could convince them. "There is only one case in Ireland, if you haven't been abroad or interacted with that person you couldn't have contracted the virus" essentially it's just a cold, have some flat 7-up and **** off. They are probably right but IMO I don't like the refusal to test people.

That sounds fair enough to me. If every Tom Dick and Harry came to A&E requesting to be tested because they thought they had it, it would be daft to entertain them all.

It's not a drive through service.

Its because he is sulking that he wasnt re-elected. Its a disgrace he is being so quite, and all I can assume is hes thinking "well you didnt vote me back in, so you are on your own"

The band practice, according to the letter was 6pm - 8pm.

I wonder if possibly they were testing people without symptoms who came into contact with the N Ireland case who flew back from northern Italy to Dublin airport. But you think they would have mentioned that the test was due to contact tracing. Hmm.

She is spending a couple of days at home with her kids Jesus.
There are plenty of things to criticize her on but I really don't think this is one of them.
Where are the other two Muppets at?
One of them is still meant to be the leader of the country why not criticize him?

What do they mean by the novel case?

They keep saying a new novel case is found. What makes it novel?
