We discovered our one and only COV-19 case was allowed to wander off to band practice after being diagnosed:rolleyes:

Someone also said that some of the kids from the closed school were taking the opportunity of the day off to visit the omni centre.

With our general attitudes here in this country, we have no chance to contain this.

They're common cold symptoms. Flu symptoms include huge fevers, severe joint and/or muscle pain, hallucinations, not knowing if you're asleep or awake and sweating like Josef Fritzl on MTV Cribs.

    Any update on Italy ?

Italy’s large elderly population poses a challenge in slowing the number of coronavirus deaths in the worst-affected country in Europe, a health specialist has said. The virus has killed 52 people in Italy, all aged between 63 and 95 with underlying serious illnesses. The death toll, provided by officials on Monday night, marked an increase of 18 in 24 hours. Twenty-three per cent of the Italian population is over 65, making it the oldest in the world after Japan...
There are 1,835 people infected in Italy, and the increase in new cases slowed to 272 between Sunday and Monday. Health workers have carried out 23,345 swab tests, significantly dwarfing the number undertaken in other European countries.

I was sent a video earlier that alleged that Bill Gates invented Covid19 and he slso has a vaccine so he can become Mr Saviour and also 5G causes Covid19. It left me a tad confused.

It is not Bill Gates in person. It is his Mossad connections. That's why it is in Iran and Israel are patenting a vaccine. Everyone knows this now. It has to be true.

Yes but that has to go through a regulatory process, maybe they pass the vaccine fast in Israel but it takes a year or more to pass EU regulation. For very good reason I must say.

Does anyone know what the rules are for being tested.

I am aware of a case where a man who works in an Italian speaking business in Dublin who comes into close contact with a large number of Italian people on a daily basis is suffering what appears to be a bad flu (with symptoms such as coughing and high fever).

The HSE refused to test him.
Deals with 20+ Italians a day and doesn't know their travel history. He doesn't know if they have it.

I can't see why you wouldn't test him.
If I may play Devil's advocate...

This man works for a company in Dublin and has no travel history.
Whatever nationality his colleagues are doesn't matter. Just because they're Italian doesn't mean they've been to Italy recently. I mean who would go to Italy right now.

He doesn't know they're travel history, but we don't know anyone's travel history. You're Irish neighbour could be just off the plane from Milan!

If he's sick with flu like symptoms he shouldn't be at work anyway. He might actually end up infecting them.

That young fella had a suspected case on Saturday evening (it was definitely online by 9pm) and I presume it takes a few hours for test results to come through. If he got his "suspected positive test" early Saturday morning, I'd be pretty miffed at the HSE at letting him off to band practice. I'm sure he wouldn't have done it if they had told him not to.

England and Scotland have emergency powers to enforce quarantine if they had to. Do we have the same powers here? I suspect not.

The HSE advice all along has been to self isolate if displaying flu like symptoms after returning from certain countries. It not complicated, why would the child attend band practice if showing symptoms.

I figure it’s time to face facts that we’re all screwed. The flu most people get these days is a variation of the 1918 Spanish Flu. The coronavirus COVID-19 will not be wiped out. It will probably last for a hundred years or more is some variation. Everyone will catch it in the next couple of years. It’s inevitable.

You can ignorantly accuse me of "whataboutism," but what it really is involves identifying similar scenarios in order to see if it holds up when the shoe is on the other foot!

"Wolves players and staff have been asked to avoid any unnecessary meetings, lunches or other public engagements, and temporarily avoid casual fan interaction such as selfies or autographs.

Whilst we acknowledge that this will be disappointing for some supporters, we stress that this a temporary measure to protect the ongoing wellbeing of the Wolves squad and is a decision which has not been taken lightly.

In addition, Wolves players and staff are also being instructed to avoid shaking hands where a warm smile and personal greeting will suffice."

This letter hoax no hoax issue really shows us what the HSE are about. Really inspires confidence in a system that can't manage day to day operation yet is expected to effectively manage a crisis.

Coronavirus in N.Y.: Cuomo Confirms Second Case in the State

The case in Westchester County indicates that community transmission is likely underway in the state. The patient, whose test was confirmed overnight by a state lab in Albany, had no direct connection with any known center of the contagion.

The HSE only appear to be testing people with symptoms based on their published guidelines.
    https://www2.hse.ie/conditions/coronavirus/advice-for-people-returning-from-affected-areas.html

We had announcement of positive test on Saturday 29th Feb.

The band practice was 6pm - 8pm on Saturday 29th Feb and we assume the patient attended.

So either the HSE tested someone without symptoms OR the patient attended the band practice with symptoms.

Though the reason the Spanish flu wiped out millions in 1918 is because they were malnourished, living in poverty, in hopelessly overcrowded conditions and personal hygiene was non-existent. It's a completely different world now.
