I am due to travel to eastern europe Friday, I also have normal Flu symptoms ( cough, runny nose and slight fever ). There is screening for all passengers arriving into the airport and it says that people showing symtoms of coronavirus will be quarantined.

Would it be advisable to travel under these circumstances, or is there a chance I could spend 2 weeks in quarantine?

Aye I get the feeling. Look out the window and the sun is shining. On the other hand two countries with ~4000 cases declared war on it after just a couple of weeks.

So it doesn't change overnight, more like 2 -4 weeks.

I'm taking it seriously no doubt but there is definitely no panic like some people suggest. Most people I know don't seem to care about the virus. They're just happy to go about their lives.

Woman on radio now with in her words "no underlying health conditions and generally healthy" has cancelled her holiday to Thailand over Covid-19 fears. Not a hope in hell would I be doing that. Madness.

26 cases from a population of 70 million. FFS.

Deals with 20+ Italians a day and doesn't know their travel history. He doesn't know if they have it.

I can't see why you wouldn't test him.

Yeah i don't get it myself but that's their guidelines at the moment

If they screen you, then yes I would expect you to end up in quarantine - so bring a book.

Firstly on behalf of all other passengers, thank you for your consideration of not spreading whatever you may have.

Secondly, and bearing in mind your above noted attitude as a model citizen, on behalf of the population of Ireland, no no, go ahead, we'll see you in a few we... days.

Maybe she is worried for her family, friends, work colleagues and citizens in this country that might be susceptible?

It's staggered me just how infantised society really is. There's 52 weeks in the year and people seemingly can't cope with their busy social lives etc being interrupted for a day let alone a week or - shock horror - month. It's just amazing. You'd think they'd never done anything before in their lives or will be able to do anything in the near future. It's the western mentality - everything's about today at all costs. No long term view. Well I say western but really it's an American-Anglo thing. Germany for instance thinks much further ahead and its economy and in turn those famous social lives are all the better for it.

Yea same. There's no panic out there and none in my life, and there shouldn't be.

They're common cold symptoms. Flu symptoms include huge fevers, severe joint and/or muscle pain, hallucinations, not knowing if you're asleep or awake and sweating like Josef Fritzl on MTV Cribs.

This seems to go in patterns. Some bad news panic, then the next people talking about travel. This grew exponentially in China despite their restrictions. Once you get clusters its explodes very quickly. the UK now has 51 cases and are not sharing much details. More than likely community spread is evident. What happened in China is highly likely to be worse in Europe very quickly as its clearly obvious we are not prepared to put in anywhere near the same restrictions.

Never got the hype over places like Thailand and the Phillipines anyway, countless other places I'd rather try first.

Madness? This is sarcasam surley?. Have you ever walked through the slums of Bangkok? If the virus spreads there it will kill thousands before anyone does .....anything

To be honest, mistakes are gonna happen. Hopefully this communication error means the authorities improve their systems. Better to happen early on when we can fix a problem like this.

Do the Department of Health update daily, and if so what time?

Most of the hysteria seems to be online and in the media. I'm not even discussing the virus in the real world, it's hardly even coming up in conversation with anyone.

If her holiday plans involved walking through the slums of Bangkok then it's no wonder she cancelled.

We discovered our one and only COV-19 case was allowed to wander off to band practice after being diagnosed:rolleyes:

Nope, still no evidence of more than a single case in Ireland, HSE doing due diligence on tracking down that case's contacts, with a slight social media comms hiccup as they tried to close down all the misinformation being spread online with people spreading fake news of cases in Tipperary etc, when they refuted a letter people were claiming proved was a second case in Dublin, but was actually a real letter relating to the first case.

Internationally, total cases has moved from 88 thousand to 92 thousand. Stock markets are recovering from the initial panic.

Band in Clontarf self isolating after coming into contact with the confirmed case... it was first dismissed as a hoax by HSE, then was confirmed as legit on RTE:

I was sent a video earlier that alleged that Bill Gates invented Covid19 and he slso has a vaccine so he can become Mr Saviour and also 5G causes Covid19. It left me a tad confused.
