South Korea probably closest to the real number in all the country stats ...so I'm not surprised death rate there is one of the lowest ..

It makes perfect sensce, if someone dies it's obvious and they will be counted.
People with mild or no sysptoms do not get added to the stats in many countries. S Korea are better at finding people with mild symptoms who will do on to add to the fully recovered stats.

looking at the hopkins dashboard it seems quite likely that the virus mutated to a less harmful form in china outside of wuhan. the death rate drops pretty dramatically in every single region in china outside wuhan. this does follow evolutionary thinking on viruses, as people carrying milder strains are much more likely to pass on the virus than the deadlier strain.

this is interesting for two reasons: one there is likely two strains of the virus in the world right now with vastly different risk levels. from reading country timelines it seems italy and iran got the deadlier wuhan strain unfortunately (first cases directly linked to wuhan). i haven't checked other countries yet. ireland's came from italy so quite possibly the wuhan strain too.

secondly it shows that mutating to a less harmful form is quite probable (it's already happened once in the country it started in). what we have seen happen in china may be replicated all over the world - initial cluster of relatively high mortality rate, and spreading out to much less harmful.

i will looking at italy very closely over the next few weeks to see if the pattern repeats.

i'm not any kind of doctor by the way, just my own thoughts.

Another equally likely reason is that there were so many people infected in Wuhan that they couldn't take as much care of them as in other places.

Dublin was never officially confirmed though, only the "east".

There is no dot for London either. And they must have the zombie apocalypse going on in Ukraine, that would be why communications have ceased.

RTE news now saying parents of pupils in school on lockdown are not in isolation and the pupils should limit contact with others as much as possible

    Just throwing this out.
Could it be for the markets. Idk.
    Less reports, less panic.

So what number of cases for Ireland would be a good outlook ? Would we be lucky to get away with 10-15 or is it likely to be higher. Will the push for extra personal hygiene keep the numbers low.

    Initially, most definitely.

That was always the case. Isolation was never mentioned. The phrase used was to limit contact.

Essentially to stay home but if it was isolation the whole house would be isolated

Or maybe the dots indicate isolation centres, or something, it could literally be anything

There were 2 cases in Devon today and there’s no red dot in SW England either.

Kid was in school for 4 days prioe yo testing positive. Odds would be he has infected others. They in turn brought it home.

Seems a bit counter productive to me

Closing the school so they can roam around shopping centres instead makes no sense

So should I give tinder the miss? Recently single but shifting strangers is probably not a recommended activity by The WHO

As much as I agree, I think if any had symptoms they'd have enough cop on to isolate themselves anyway

Are teenagers less likley to show symptons while they carry the virus than older people?

Overblown bs? Yes there were different levels and for different lengths of time but the whole country extended chinese new year for weeks... with a complete travel ban. If you don't want to call that a lockdown that's fine, it's a bit pedantic. I'm not going to go through it all for you but you are misrepresenting the situation much more than you're accusing me of. Ask anyone who has contacts in china were they staying inside for weeks. There were one or two in this thread.

these are cities of millions of people all over, imagine new york or london.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1l-TabOXOL0
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F6iWtuSmD0k
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nuCvxiiFABY

If there was only a bout 50 million at home then you wouldn't see the economic and environmental indicators drop so significantly.

These videos aren't proof of anything. Where is the statistical data? Where are you pulling numbers from?

Some videos of empty streets in 2 cities affected somehow translates into 700+ million in your mind? Oh but it has the 28 days later music to make it scary!

How many cities are like this? Where do you get 700m number from? I did see some clickbait using this number with no source.

Complete China wide travel ban? Again where are you getting this information? The dark web? My searches don't show any supporting evidence for anything you are saying. Not even clickbait. China containing all the information I suppose.

Getting pretty sick of the level of muppetry on this thread.
