"the proportionality of putting in a travel ban wasn’t justified in terms of its benefits of health protection of the Australian community,” Dr Murphy said.

It's so depressing that so many people are still playing this down and believe it's just like a normal flu, these same ***** will be the ones who will arrogantly refuse to isolate themselves and report having symptoms and spread it faster. Thick as ****.

There seriously should be an emergency announcement made advising all citizens and people currently in the country about how necessary it is that they comply with the advice of the WHO to isolate yourself if you've symptoms and arrange to be tested. We simply cannot possibly cope with a huge increase in numbers of people requiring hospital treatment for this

These are the dangerous ones im afraid and there are plenty of them on here for example. "sure i'll be grand it only kills old and sick people" is one of their favorites.

Got this from the Coronavirus thread in We Are the Music Makers Forum.

" america is ****ed. a bunch of workers showed up to move around quarantined people and none of them had training or protective gear and weren't told about what they needed to do.

also, the tests the CDC sent out to all 50 states were flawed and they were told not to use them.

but mike pence is probably praying so it'll all be fine. " :pac::D:D:D

John Oliver had the Coronavirus as his weekly topic to shine the spotlight on. It's at 1:30 in this video and lasts for about 20 minutes...

He makes a good point in there, which although made for a US audience, I'd relate to our own situation in Ireland with how forthcoming official bodies can be with information - Trust in institutions is critical when trying to contain a possible pandemic.

We've got a lot of people saying that on this thread, and the very same people actively sowing mistrust.

Lot of normalcy bias going around, it’s how a lot of people cope.

You know that putting quotation marks around something you just made up doesn't make it more true?

I would think it is for more selfish reasons. If you are healthy and young you probably won’t be drastically effected by the illness itself but you will be affected by the curtailments. It is the community response that is needed for the vulnerable that we seem to be lacking.

Yeah I can imagine. I opted to skip my usual train journey this morning and work from home. Will drive in rest of the week and pay for parking. Have a high-risk person and a toddler at home and I'm pregnant and was dreading the thoughts of the train.

Theres numerous examples of exactly that from the previous 2 threads, i dont remember seeing you in them much before the middle of last week so you may have missed these.

Glasnevin I’d assume he means sure it’s next door to the closed school so wouldn’t be beyond possibilities that he played/trained for that club or at least classmates

Judging by some of the hysteria on this thread, yup that could well be the outcome alright.

There is no hysteria; that is your ( hysterical) interpretation of what is being posted. Simply folk seeking info and to take reasonable precautions to avoid illness.
And cracking jokes to relieve understandable stress.

Maybe please give precise examples of that you see as "hysteria"? Thank you.

Please leave unconfirmed rumours on WhatsApp elsewhere. They're utterly useless.

More likely training and matches were cancelled over the weekend due to the weather, same as my local club

Whilst that is a scandal. It's not representative of the HSE as a whole.

The scandal is pretending there are not many very serious problems in HSE.

You cannot fix what you do not admit to.
