You think you are funny but you aren't.

Things I don't get: your endless need to post sanctimoniously.

Brooklyn 99 and Curb your Enthusiasm.

Absolute muck. Just don't get them.

Brooklyn 99, in my opinion, is a low brow, safe, production that is aimed at kids (teens) and those who want TV on in the background.

Curb your Enthusiasm is a different kettle of fish. It is (was) highly original and edgy. It has peaked though...seasons 1-6 were very good but recent seasons have struggled to maintain these high standards.

People deciding to go by the Irish version of their name.

One's name is their name, a David cannot decide to be a Dáithí for example, that's not their name.

First they came for the socialists...

How do you feel about shortened names? 95% of the time I'm called one of two contractions of my name.

Generally speaking the only times I hear my full name is when I'm meeting someone new in work, or when I'm in trouble with my Granny. They're all my name to me. So is it not the same ballpark? I like Irish names, fwiw.

    1. It's a joke.

    2. Yes, I am.

Ah here, don't talk, in my own head I refer to myself as my nickname at this stage.

Ahh finally found the person who decides what peoples names are.

Can I have your contact details please? I would like to change my name.

I dont understand the point of modern colloquialisms like cockwomble and, sorry OMackerel, Wankpuffin.

Agreed, sound far too like something an English person who thinks they’re terribly drole and clever would come out with.

Just call someone a ****ing **** and be done with it

    Spot on with both.

I do still like the later seasons of Curb, even if it's not as good as earlier ones.

Myself and the Mrs are cooking pancakes for tea tonight and I'll definitely remember to say it now

I don't get why the government are taking such a lax approach to border control of Coronovirus. Other countries are being proactive but the Irish governments attitude shows a complete lack of interest. I don't know if it's true or not but I read about a class of Irish kids who came back to Dublin from a skiing trip to Italy who'd stopped off in one of the towns that has had an outbreak, allegedly they self identified at Dublin airport but were waved through with no checks and no advice on medical attention.

We're leaving it until the weekend, we were supposed to make them last Sunday but forgot eggs, then I got eggs yesterday to make them today but neither of us is really bothered so putting it off until then. Neither of us is giving anything up for Lent so it makes no difference. I couldn't care if I never saw a pancake but my husband would eat them with bacon and maple syrup until they came out of his ears.

Same reason we don't deport asylum seekers who've had their residency claims rejected.

That comes down to money. There’s too much money being made through the “Direct Provision” system.

Keeping people penned in squalid conditions, feeding them low grade “muck” and treating them like convicts is generating a tonne of money and nothing is going to change anytime soon.

The “system” is designed to keep people inside it.

We’ve got a long history of making money off of “institutionalising” people.

There's something annoyingly twee and... English about those terms. It's their language - you'd think they'd be better than us at using it, but they're not. Bunch of shitehawks.

the only reason people get hurt in that industry is BECAUSE it's illegal.

Yep, because tobacco and alcohol being legal had made them completely safe and not of any interest to criminals which has resulted in customs and the Gardai not spending any time dealing with their effects, licensing, smuggling or sale.

So, you slam the various government agencies lack of action on a virus that has to date not entered the country based on a probable fake story you heard third hand?

There is some smuggling. It’s a tax crime. But I doubt booze smuggling is causing crime family gangs to murder each other weekly.

Plus alcohol or tobacco are sold in massive volumes compared to any illegal drug. So the murder:proportion sold ratio is massively skewed towards the illegal drugs.

Smuggling is massive business. Illegal cigarettes and alcohol is massive business. Just controlled by a different group that haven't got rivals

the school is real, the trip was real, its now shut and being deep cleaned - more than most HSE hospitals snd clinics have got in years I’s say, judging by the routine dirt and squalor in them I see - which is something I just don’t get. I couldn’t sit in a dirty office so why in the midst of a health crisis will HSE managers and staff sit amid dirt in a MSRA crisis and infection control crisis in dirty offices / clinics.
