Great first ep, the maga hat was brilliant! Plus how they made Jeff look exactly like weinstein, genius. 2nd ep wasn't as good, too many jokes missed imo. That non sex tape was creepy as **** :pac:

Anyway, I've gone back and started watching from the beginning again, forgot how good it was.

Great series opener - his vengeance speech at Mocha Joe was hilarious :)

And the fact they showed the cleaning cloth falling on the bedroom floor may come back to haunt him :D

Love curb but that episode was a bit stupid, directed by Cheryl Hines so that could be the reason.

I don't think the most recent episode was. One of the previous ones were though.

Leon: "I'm not bragging, but I had one bitch give me a wedgie with my own johnson" :pac:

The urinal discussion was a nice throwback to the time of the restaurant ownership with 'Danson' et al..

Excellent again. Seems to be more celebs with every episode. Last night with Vince Vaughn, Isla Fischer. Jon Hamm still to come. Hopefully more of Vince Vaughn.

Vince, Isla and also Clive Owen, all great cameos. And you just knew that the voicemail was going to come back to haunt larry..

And Larry to Richard Lewis 'Waddymean if you have kids, you're like a hundred years old!'

It’s been well below par, bar his interactions with Susie, laughs have been thin.

i love the interactions between larry and leon. they seem so natural and great together. it never seems like there acting. that was a genius decision to bring leon and his family onboard back in the day. leon adds so much to the episodes.

Definitely. There were a few lukewarm ones but this was good.

I can see where the "Heated coffee cup" story is going.

This season is an improvement on the last one, but it's still piss poor compared to classic Curb. Too many characters there to just react to Larry rather than having their own stuff going on. Far too many famous faces playing bit roles too; it's easier to buy into the stories if we don't know the actors involved (Isla Fisher as a professional crier; Vince Vaughn as a Funkhouser...I mean, come on!). Also, Leon is just there now as a token black guy (pardon the expression): he has no reason to be in Larry's life, and he has no stories/arcs/anything. He's just there to tag along when Larry needs company, like a dog. His lines are getting more bizarre and less funny too. It's actually quite a racist/insulting caricature at this stage. When he first joined, he seemed like he was from planet Earth. Now he's just a cartoon. Also, I hate the sight of Jeff: he has always been a loud windbag, but was necessary as a foil for Larry. Now he is overacting, and really annoying. He's an agent; how about showing him doing a day's work? It's all getting too far-fetched and insular. (p.s. I imagine Seth Rogen will be like Jeff Garlin when he is older.)

I'm shocked at how bad the writing has been for the past two seasons. For such great comedy writers (ex-Seinfeld, and long-term Curb writers), it's like they've forgotten their past achievements.

Having said all that, Larry is still great. He gives it his all, I just wish he had better material. Larry and the sex doll was the best moment so far :pac: I also find Richard Lewis's acting bizarrely funny: it's like he has broken his back.

I thought it was the poorest so far.

The ugly/good looking section gag took up way too much time and wasn't even that funny.

LD and Lewis together are now the best part.

Yeah, I thought it was the weakest of the season so far and I have thoroughly enjoyed this season.

Not sure what the rest of you expect, but I think it's fantastic comedy! Another strong episode this week! #MagicalVagina

I think the episodes that had Cheryl in them were better. She was always Larry's tether to normality, but now she's out of the picture, he's running around doing too much madcap stuff with Leon.

It does seem like the writers are running out of ideas. The attractive/unattractive section in the restaurant was a bit lame. Also Larry having interactions with disabled people again is a bit repetitive: he's done this multiple times over the course of Curb.

He either needs to get back with Cheryl or else get a new long term girlfriend.

I also miss Marty Funkhauser. R.I.P. Bob Einstein aka Super Dave.

I like the longer episodes. This season is very slickly produced compared with earlier seasons. Although it does seem to just be Larry at home, Larry in a restaurant or Larry in the coffee shop.

  • Registered Users Posts: 486 ✭✭Duggie2012

I think Vince Vaughan would have been better as a character who had a run in with Larry rather than as a Funkhouser. I could just see the two of them having an argument ad-libbing. I think he is wasted as a Funkhouser.

I just find it weird Vince Vaughn is not playing Vince Vaughn. The season is ok but my god it will never reach the heights of LD bringing the hooker to the baseball game.

Ha well I've only consumed the last two seasons so I'm looking forward to starting on Season 1 to 8

    Magical vagina was vintage Curb.

I think Ted is going to be the winner there if it's revisited in future episodes.
