SF are left. FG are right. Talk about what???

They have completely different outlooks.....they couldn't form a program for govt.

Labour are left and Fine Gael are right and they've been in government a few times. In the 90's FG was even in power the Democratic Left.

So, they can talk to each other when they want to.

Well the Healy-Raes can apparently be in two places at once; attending an event in Kerry and swiping into Leinster house to claim expenses at the same time. So that's 6 votes.

You can accuse the Healy Raes of a lot of things but not of voting in the dail

Labour are members of the Party of European Socialists, yet they've governed with them (which looks like the kiss of death to them now mind you) and would do so again I reckon.

    Square that circle please.

Enda Kenny too. Though Enda pulled off the amazing and enviable feat of being in different Feckin countries at the same time.

    Fine Gael are right wing?

They're neo liberal conservatives. So yes, they're on the right.

These stories about the SF TDs are tip of the iceberg stuff I reckon.

Absolutely. The Democratic Left was formerly the Workers Party which was formerly Sinn Fein -The Workers Party. Democratic Left was formed after revelation of continued links between the workers party and the Official IRA. The collapse of communism throughout Europe also forced them to accept free market capitalism.

For those of us who didn't hear it, anything in particular he was lying about?

Forgive me for being skeptical, considering your earlier posts In the thread, I'm leaning towards you spouting bollocks tbch.

I highly doubt he did not hear of the story which he claimed to not know about, refused to even attempt to discuss it then. He also basically blamed the paper for wiring the article rather than focus on the issue.

He claimed Over and over the vast majority of the country want change - wrong

He bizarrely claimed the vast majority of FF voters what change - wrong

He claimed that FF voters don’t want FF in government - bizarre

He claimed nobody in the county wants Varadkar - wrong, FG had almost the same percentage vote as SF so in other words just as many people want Leo and MLM.

That’s the bits I remember anyway.

They didn't need to, a child of six could add up the numbers.

All the other parties should cry into their cornflakes and refuse to coalesce with the parties that got more votes than them, to show FG how ridiculous it looks.

I see Helen McEntee is 10/1 to be the next leader of FG  She crept up fast. Ahead of Josepha, Harris and Murphy.

Sinn Fein are coming across as desperate now to get into government.
They campaigned on not having FF or FG in government and are now tripping over themselves to put FF in government.
It seems like a strange and hypocritical position.

That'll die down pretty quick. They've accepted they can't form their 'united left' and they'll surely soon have to accept FF are not for turning on coalition.

Their line will soon turn to: "There's nothing more we can do. FF & FG, get on with it, or else give us another election."

I think it's just posturing. Sinn Fein would be better off in opposition, and come back in a few years and try to win 60 seats.

Mad how people are acting as if Sinn Fein have a mandate to form a majority government. They don't and neither does anyone else.

True FF have the most seats so the onus is on them to get moving but they're coming off their 2nd worst election in history and FG their worst election since the 40's so I'm sure they're still dissecting that.

They'd want to get a move on though, the longer they drag it out the worse it will look for them.

Correct but all parties have a mandate to try and form a government, not to run off the pitch.

He claimed Over and over the vast majority of the country want change - wrong

80% of the country didn't vote for the current government.

If that's not a request for change by the majority. what is it?

The entertainment goes on. It makes me laugh with all the umbrage taken at the FF & FG positions.

Well some of them couldn't as they presently reside in a graveyard. My grandparents both got polling cards. '97 and ' 06 was the date of their deaths.

Read the headline but not the rest as I'm about to go into a meeting with work, but McDonald would be giving sound advice imo.

The greens already said that they didn't think FF back in represented change, and they got wiped out in 2011.

Labour met the same fate in 16.

I would sincerely hope Murphy/Shorthall won't get lured into being mudguards or fallguys seeing as they're a relatively new party just getting established.

Though I suspect/hope they're waaaaaaay too savvy for the gombeens in FF/FG anyway.

Plus, Murphy was instrumental in calling out the shenanigans in Irish water, wonder when the siteserv enquiry will be published.

I'll read the article in full later when I'm free.

I got 2 card myself so it was 2 votes for change.

Anyone know how to check the odds of Leo gone before Easter? Can't find it on Paddy Power site.

The promise was not to form a full coalition. Martin left the door (slightly) open to a minority FF government supported by FG. Coveney has spoken strongly against this but it's not ultimately his call. So Confidence & Supply II could be formed without anybody breaking red lines but the numbers make it very difficult...

Confidence in supply again would go down like a lead balloon. Both got a kicking and didn’t bother to listen. How can we go without formation of a government by any side ? Who gets to call time ?
