221 votes are going to get Dillon elected over Mulherin. She must be sick.

Lisa's seat hopping cost her a seat.

    Sixth Count, Quota: 12,871
    Distribution of McHugh's 6,036 votes.

    Dara Calleary (FF): 11,130 (+701)
    Lisa Chambers (FF): 8,363 (+988)
    Alan Dillon (FG): 7,648 (+1,095)
    Michelle Mulherin (FG): 7,427 (+831)

    Non-transferable papers: 2,421

    Mulherin is excluded.

So now distributing Mulherin votes which means Dillon will pass Chambers.

Also note that not only did Dillon pass Mulherin he passed her well and did the best of all candidates.

So after the next count we'll have Calleary and Dillon elected.

Only hope is if Calleary makes the quota and has some surplus to give Chambers. This is possible as Calleary might pick up a few votes from Mulherin as they're both Ballina based. Small chance but possible.

Hmmm......don’t think it works like that

Calleary makes the quota in the final count and Dillon takes the last seat with more than 2000 to spare over Chambers.

It does and happened last time in Dublin.

Even though Dara was almost 800 over the quota there was no point distributing his votes as Dillon was ahead 2000.

You have to feel sorry for Chambers and Mulherin. Losing out to the likes of Dillon.

Agreed, and unlikely we'll see or hear much of him for Fine Gael in the national media. Or in the Dáil for that matter either.

Maybe a good thing? Mulherin got her chance in the dail, and we heard about her for all the wrong reasons. She has failed to get elected in the last two general elections now. Will this be the last we hear of her?

No she'll keep her seat in Seanad Eireann

Very unfair comments about Dillon, I've had a small bit of contact with him professionally and found him to be good. Very easy to throw out comments like that without any basis

We've no idea what he'll be like as a politician, give the lad a chance. Everybody has to start somewhere and hes been elected to represent Mayo, maybe judge him after a spell in the dail

Was she not a Taoiseach's nominee? Unlikely to be nominated this time around

Fair point.Simply stating Alan Dillon did not follow the perhaps all too rigid political career pathway.I do not know him but I'm sure he's a nice fellow and very intelligent but I'm unsure if political life is his game. We'll soon find out.

I have long stated I wouldn't give Michelle Mulherin a vote for the the multitude of self inflicted calamaties.

Vote gate did Lisa Chambers no good but I thought she appeared to perform well as a Brexit spokesperson.

I'd imagine FG will have a new standard bearer from the north of the county next time round. That is if they don't decide to put Dillon on a solo run on the basis that one seat is the best they can hope for going forward...

Fixed term. She may go the council route if she seeks reelection.
