There’s a guy who has been posting snaps over the last few days. The roads and pavements are extremely quiet but I’ve no idea what he’s saying.

There was also a snap earlier of a teenager in a small classroom saying school was back. But, I’m wondering why he didn’t write the text in Chinese.

Fake numbers on that webpage have been floating around since it first went live.
Anyone can fake them - just right click -> Inspect Element
Then you can edit the figures yourself to read whatever you like.

The real key to making it look legit is take a pic of the screen instead of a screenshot - for some reason its more believable if the image looks like sh*t. :rolleyes:

Bit of a jump up, for end of 4th Feb, after a slight slowdown on the previous day:
24.4k for China (confirmed), this is double from what it was just before 1st Jan.
add a 'bit' more for unconfirmed Chinese numbers.

I'm so addicted to this thread I think I'm questioning my health and sanity, but thanks to everyone posting the links, especially these doctor John videos as he seems fairly level headed and he makes the medical jargon understandable.

The Chinese have managed this publicity around the virus very well.
In that article and in many of the other articles, the embedded video is not one of the abandoned streets of Wuhan, but one of the 'hospital' being built in 8 days.
Deflection on a massive scale.

Indeed she was either in contact with people who visited china or she wasnt, also if she was then where are they?

The real infected number probably is close to that high - however the authorities wont report that.

Confirmed cases are only cases that test positive for nCov-2019. The problem with that is, there is only so much testing capacity per day. So the rate of increase in confirmed cases (in Wuhan anyways) is limited by how many tests they can do daily.

Suspected cases then are cases where nCov is suspected (i.e. symptoms are there, Chest Xrays/CT scans are showing pneumonia) but the test cannot be run, so these people are simply "suspected". Likely that 90%+ of all suspected cases are nCov also.

If they aren't showing pneumonia (just fever/cough) I think they're listed as under observation.

There was confirmation from somewhere in China that the suspected cases are all pneumonic - I'll try and see if I can find where I read it

There is still only these 3 links for the St James case, Dublin Live and Mirror basically. The Kerry one will probably take 24 hours at least to confirm.

I wonder if the one in St James is purely hearsay since I wouldn't trust either of those publications. Otherwise two separate unrelated cases isn't a good sign.

WHO is requesting $675 million to fund the plan for the next 3 months; $60 million of that will fund WHO operations while the rest will go toward supporting countries grappling to contain the virus. "Our message to the international community is invest today or pay more later."

Approx. 500 deaths mainly in Hubei province. Hubei population is 60 million. And Wuhan City is 11 million. Wuhan is a major economic and transport hub. If initial warnings by the likes of the 'whistleblower' doctor were not silenced then the figures I'd say would be much lower.
Since this region is in effective lockdown it will be a hotspot that will have to be managed for months to come until hopefully a vaccine can be created.
The management of cases in the U.S. will be a better indicator of how prepared countries can deal with containment.

I don't trust the official Chinese numbers, I've ordered and received a box of medical face masks, I also bought some n95 masks.. they are enroute.

A lot have either sold out on Amazon, or increased in price by almost 10x.

Media orgs here are loathe to spread panic. Was it SARS or one of the others, the journal did a news alert on the “first confirmed case” they ended up having to walk back to much pillorying.

It does not exactly paint the authorities in good light . Saying there is not enough food for the hospital staff and one person says there is a shortage of equipment. I dont think the CCP would approve.
The woman interviewed in the video is pretty cool, brilliant illustrations and very self aware. She is also looking for a partner, I think she will get pleanty of volunteers when the crisis is over
