Trump definitely knows a lot about American Football. He was heavily involved in the USFL.

It's not his worst error, but it shows an basic lack of general knowledge about the US, which isn't comforting considering he's the POTUS. Kansas City is one of the largest and most culturally significant cities in the Midwest and it's name quirk is memorable in itself. You can make any number of excuses for him, but at the end of the day, it's pretty ignorant. Middle school students are expected to know better.

Also, I don't know how capital cities came up in this discussion; Kansas City isn't the capital of Kansas (Topeka), Missouri (Jefferson City) or any other state (and yes, I knew those without looking because I paid attention and passed 7th grade Geography).

I don't make excuses for the guy, where they're not warranted.

I would be far more concerned, about how he's running the economy and how many foreign countries he has invaded in the last year... rather than how knowledgeable he might be on the location of every NFL franchise!

I guess some of us are just capable of judging the guy objectively, and putting aside what you might think of him as a person! I do find it quite sad, that apparent grown-ups in society, have decided they despise the man and not only refuse to give him a shred of credit where it's due... but also never seem to tire of highlighting rather pointless and trivial nonsense.

Everything seems so polarized these days. Very few people can see the grey areas... It's either black or white. That is quite boring to me. And of course, if you've decided that you despise him from the outset, you can always use confirmation bias to continue fueling that fire in your own head. Which many people do!

I find most of his mistakes amusing tbh. They're usually non-critical... someone like Obama probably would never make these same mistakes, but then again Obama made plenty of mistakes in more critical areas of his presidency. I'll take someone tripping up on twitter, over someone tripping up on important policy issues any day! :)

hands up who knew Kansas City was not in Kansas before last night??

I must be the only one who didn't...

I didn't even know there was a Kansas City.

I'm in no position to criticise him.

I pay so little attention to American stuff that I literally don't know what the Superbowl is. Is it a stadium? A competition? Baseball? American football? I don't know. I mean, I could Google it, but I've survived this long without knowing...

Why comment then if you know nothing about it?

Who cares? American football is a joke of a game anyway, they spent more time playing ads than actual football.

Judging by this comment, it looks like you’ve never seen a game apart from the super bowl. It’s no secret that ads are a huge part of the super bowl due to the high viewership. You’ll find that most other games have far fewer ads.

Jesus Christ. The internet is going to be covered in this today on top of the Superbowl already. People are going to be calling him a diabolical piece of atomic shlt over it.

Can't blame them, he continually proves it to everybody. This is just the latest example... until tomorrow.

I once knew a guy who accepted a place on a University of Washington exchange programme and didn't cop that he wasn't going to Washington DC until a month before hand when his home university booked him a flight to Seattle. It happens, although this chap wasn't the US President at the time (still isn't as far as I'm aware).

I could forgive non-American people for the assumption of thinking that Kansas City is in Kansas state but surely the President of the United States of America should know better?

I'd imagine many Americans would know this, I've only recently realised it, but since trump bashing rocks, he's kinna thick

Vancouver, Canada - so close to the Washington state line... yet there's also a Vancouver in Washington... which is actually a suburb of Portland, Oregon.

    And I just love It!

...and Vancouver Island doesn’t include Vancouver BC

In fairness the Giants and the Jets play in New Jersey but nobody says they're Jersey teams, they're New York.

The Washington Redskins play in Maryland and they train and have their headquarters in Virginia.

DC does straddle both states though.

I guess he will have to step down as US President now so a handful of Soy Boy Civil Servants in Ireland - making their mammies proud that they have a good pension coming - can bask in their own brilliance...

Pack your bags Donald, Sean in the HSE accounts has spoken. You can't win.

I think Alan Kelly's sleeping brother was the bigger story to come out of this SuperBowl!

I didn’t hear anything about this so just googled it.
He must be pretty well off if he can sleep in expensive seats like that.
He could have offered them to me, I would gladly have taken them

Odd thing to be curious about. I'd understand it if the thread was about the Superbowl itself and I had waded in for the sole purpose of being disrespectful and expressing my ignorance of the topic. It's not though - it's literally about ignorance. Which is why I posted my own example.

Fun y video of Trump joking around and miming a conductor during the national anthem.

Will his supporters be upset with him, given how much they claim the anthem should be observed in an exact way by all people? Or will they prove that their whole righteous indignation over the NFL players kneeling in protest of discrimination against minorities had zero to do with the anthem, and everything go do with certain people getting too uppity and needing to be put back in their place?

    We all know the answer.
