I'm travelling to the Netherlands at the weekend - just wondering should I bring a face mask for the airport?

THere should be proper guidelines issued for hospitals and schools in case of an outbreak here

The Department of Foreign Affairs advising Irish citizens to be ready to leave China.

In a change to its existing travel advice, the department says Irish people in China whose continued presence is not essential should “contact their travel agency or airlines regarding available routes out before any further restrictions may be imposed”.

There certainly are guidelines circulated to all the medical staff of my hospital.

That probably doesn't fit with the narrative of this thread though.

If true his contacts and family should be isolated too. Why are we letting people in?

Third death outside of Mainland China. In Macua. Macua's famous casinos may close to halt the spread of the virus.
International mortality rate is actually almost the same as the original prediction now, at 1.7%, vs 2.1% original estimate.

A multinational near me has introduced an international travel ban because of coronavirus. Impressed by their responsible attitude.

I just wouldn't go. If I had to go I would get a mask.

The science is showing that masks do very little, and if anything it encourages people to touch their faces more often to readjust them. The main benefit is when someone is sick as it stops them spreading.

As for not travelling anywhere for fear of a virus that is affecting a tiny number of people worldwide - that's just ridiculous.

News report says that's the second death, the 39 year old man from Hong Kong.

No harm in a mask gloves and handgel. If nothing else it might keep people away from you!

Chinese students are avoiding the coronavirus travel ban and sneaking into Australia by LYING on their departure cards - and bragging about it once they clear customs

A man died in the Philippines also.

News from the redtops today say:
640 patients are waiting on trolleys at hospitals around the country – the highest figure since the all-time record high set last month.
(10 of those patients without beds are under 16, with 8 on trolleys in Temple Street Children’s University Hospital)

72 people are waiting for a bed at University Hospital Limerick.
    64 at Cork University Hospital.
46 at St Vincent's Hospital in Dublin.
    41 at University Hospital Galway.
    38 at Mayo University Hospital.

If you're young and healthy and but suddenly coming down with the sneezes next month,
then a bottle of Bourbon, honey and lemon for starters. Then plenty of bottled water with occasional electrolytes might be the best bet.

A child in Australia was infected through h2h transmission. Several of these new h2h transmission in countries experience tropical and hot summer temperatures , such as Thailand and Singapore with numerous h2h transmission today, would imply the virus also can survive warm temperatures as well as cold

If in the next 6wks, things go the way they're currently going, get these:

[2L plastic bottle, sharpie, stanley, stapler, elastic, duct tape, superglue and foamex]
N95's will be sold out, some improvisaion would be needed for sub 0.5micron filtration...

Ah sure it’s grand says the HSE spokesperson.....
A spokesperson for the HSE said: "Ireland has advanced plans in place as part of its comprehensive preparedness to deal with public health emergencies such as novel Coronavirus (2019-nCoV). These plans have helped us to respond to previous incidents such as pandemic influenza, SARS and MERS.

"Ireland is well positioned to detect and respond to a case of the novel Coronavirus (2019-nCoV) that might arise here.

I notice they said a (singular) case of the novel Coronavirus that might arise here
