Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    https://www.irishmirror.ie/sport/gaa/2020-allianz-national-hurling-football-20965583

Kicks off on the 25th/26th Jan 2020

Am I right in saying this is the new format for division 1

Top teams in each group go into the semi finals

    QFs- 2nd 1A vs 3rd 1B and 3rd 1A vs 2nd 1B

Relegation is 6th 1A vs 6th 1B with the 2A winner replacing the loser in 2021

    Kicks off next weekend

Hard to call a winner in division 1 with the way managers use the league nowadays with it being a less important priority. A few new managers will want to hit the ground running but may still be getting used to there new surroundings

I think Wexford will win it cause Davy is a lunatic and goes for everything.

Don't think Davy will aim for it. Didn't aim for it last year. Cork will need to hit the ground runnning

Waterford showed last year a good league run means **** all when you have a disaster of a championship

Saying that I would like a few wins this year especially a victory against Limerick up in the Gaelic grounds which has been a graveyard for Waterford down the years

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,131 ✭✭✭Billy Ocean

Think Limerick could retain they're title this year

Limerick surprisingly off the pace so far down in thurles. If you can stop limerick with the short passing and running out of defence they struggle and I think that's what tipp have tried to do. Decent enough game so far with the referee being finicky.

Some comeback in second half by limerick

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,099 ✭✭✭✭Mantis Toboggan

Limerick upped it big time in the second half and tipps work rate dropped off. Short puck outs killed both teams. Good work out for both teams.

It does from a distance but there’s some amount of divots on the close up shots.

Baffling as to why he was taken off. Looked like a tactical change. As a Corkman I was happy to see him taken off. Thought he was playing very well

Hopefully that's just purely precautionary. He was out, so surely hospital check up be minimum needed

It looked bad. He was on his stomach but they flipped him over after putting a neck brace on. They just flew out to CUH at serious speed.

I thought it was poor form of Diarmuid O Sullivan aggressively roaring and provoking one of the Tipp players last night in the game's dying embers. What was he doing out on the pitch looking to get involved because a Cork player hit the deck? Is he allowed on the field like that? It didn't look good anyway as he lost the head and was spoiling for a row.

    Any more word on Bubbles?

    Any more word on Bubbles?

Same as earlier. Sounds like he will be ok which is good to hear.

Tipperary manager Liam Sheedy expects John 'Bubbles' O'Dwyer to make a speedy recovery from the injury he sustained in the closing stages of last night's defeat to Cork.

O'Dwyer was only on the field a matter of minutes before he was grounded following an aerial collision with opponent Bill Cooper. The game was delayed for eight minutes while the experienced forward was treated by medics on the pitch before he was stretchered off.

Thankfully, the injury wasn't serious with Sheedy telling RTÉ afterwards: "Bubbles is good. I was down in the medical room with him. He is feeling all his bones.

"He’s a bit shaken, but thankfully he’s okay. He’ll probably be sore for a few days, but we don’t think there is any major damage, but we await confirmation from the medics."

Weather could hit again this weekend and postpone a few games meaning everything been dragged a week now with the group stages not finishing til the weekend of the 7/8 Mar (which atm is the date for the QFs). The current scheduling aims for the league to run off the next few weekends with the final been on the 22nd March

Another double header final with the division 1 football final in Croke park on the 29th March might be an option this year
