Shameless copy of the same thread in Motors forum .. and mods, apologies if there is one here already but I've never seen it. Anyway post pics of your classic here please!

I'll start, so I finally picked this up today, an '83 W123 280CE.

Keen eyed will see some trim missing in two places, it's in the boot along with a bag of new clips.

Also got the Mexican Hat alloys with it, but I like the look of the hubcaps so leaning to leaving them.

PS I have to thank hoodie6029 for igniting my interest in the W123, I was looking for a book for a gift and he recommended the W123 World by Mark Cosovich. The car included a signed copy. Thanks hoddie!

Thanks. She's 1996. Not cosworth, just RS I think. The RS kit and wheels were on when I bought but I have the original rims aswell and the original orange indicators and a folder full of history. 49K genuine miles.

That must be one powerful read, ending up with one powerful car.:cool:

I am thinking along that line myself, but have not made the journey that far yet.

Of course I will have to cull my VW herd a bit first, or get divorced:D

LOL I never actually got the book, was planing to wait till I got the car (have it now came with the sale), but I read up on them online. Just glanced through the book, very comprehensive indeed. If you're buying, "The essential buyer's guide Mercedes-Benz W123" by Julian Parish. 15 quid IIRC from Kennys.

I had a new 1980 1.6L Cortina as a company car. Hated it with a passion and swapped it for a new Opel Ascona when the chance happened after a few months. You have two of them !!!!!!

i've had dozens of them and on the whole have loved them all.

Gorgeous! And the Kosovich signed book is a nice touch. I'm a fan of the Mexican hat alloys, but those hubcaps look classy and understated. Very much in line with the car. I'd keep them on too.

If you don't mind me asking, how much did the car set you back? I guess a good bit more than the budget you mentioned to me about a year ago, or when was it?

Thank you! I posted it on the MB club site (they already had a post your pic thread!) too and all said keep the hub caps.

The book looks very in-depth, but just flicked through it so far.

I saw this 260 at Swords last April, it was in really fantastic condition, and the seller seemed like a really nice honest guy
