Great catch, but he threw the ball for the pass.

On the replay, yeah it looked thrown.

Borris have worked hard on the fist pumping since the munster final!!

Wides killing St Thomas, gone 10 min without a score

I think Ballyhale would beat the pick of St Thomas's and Borris.

In the second game was disappointed with the performance of the county players on show with the exception of both Conor and Shane Cooney and to a lesser degree Brendan Maher.

Some point from brendan Maher with half a hurley from the sideline.

Brendan Maher was definitely better than Conor Cooney. And Dan McCormack played well too.

Basically, David Burke had another poor game. And Eanna Burke was well marked bar a spectacular goal, was always likely given he was the obvious danger from the County Final.

Did he take the previous free with the broken stick too? Twas some score alright. Spoke great sense afterwards too about moving the finals forward pre xmas.

Maher got a great point from play with the last puck and struck the frees well - he didnt do much of note apart from that though.

Think he might have broke it taking the free, made a great block down from the keeper.

Agree. But difference apart from thomas' wides was borrisoleighs other players showed up. Conor Kenny great, jj very good and though he hurled well throughout and was great on frees i still thought brendan was probably only the third best maher on the field today. Ray McCormack also put in a big shift.

Will be a big price for the final but pressure will be on shamrocks again.

I’m sure Brendan won’t mind your views on him “not doing much of note” today as he gets ready to play an All Ireland club final 9 months after coming back from a career threatening injury oh and winning an all star and the small matter of winning an All Ireland with his county 4 months ago.

Agree with the above and I am actually a great admirer of him, think hes a fantastic hurler. I was referring to todays performance and another poster in which they felt he had a great game. I thought he was poor in general play. Just my opinion. Maybe I just expect too much from county hurlers. Thought David Burke had a bad game too

His first point at the start of the game was as good as was scored on the day. Thought he played well, again I would say better than Conor Cooney who also played well.

I think David Burke was the only real disappointing County Player, shipped a belt early on maybe it took its toll. Though personally thing his legs are gone, looked that way for Galway for the last while to be honest.

Entertaining game hopefully the final delivers the same.

County players are generally fairly well man-marked too. TJ Reid was also fairly quiet for Ballyhale as was Mullen.
Often the winning of the clubs games at this level is how well the teams non-inter county players do. And in that Borris had the better backup today.
Colin Fennelly probably the best of them I/C on view today, as always massively helped by not having the over-carrying rule applied to him.

This is true but I would add that it is often the Club player who has some county experience but is no longer county(or a former county minor) who can make the difference in these matches when your star player isn't turning it on.

David Burke had a poor day at the office but James Regan and Shane Cooney played very well for Thomas's but over all they made alot of errors i.e. short puckouts gone wrong, missing frees and a huge number of wides. When there was three points in it in towards end of the game they were messing around with short puckouts/passing around their own goal line and got caught for 2 points I think, madness! They can have no complaints. I couldn't see them turning around the 20 point deficit Ballyhale bet them by last year.

Borris-Illeigh have a fine team, Ray McCormack and Dan McCormack played well defensively and they have a couple of lively forwards. Conor Kenny and Kevin Maher really stood up when they needed scores.

Ballyhale weren't any great shakes for a good bit of their match today and if Borris can reel of a few scores then they will be hard bet and they have a bit of xfactor i.e. Brendan Maher.

That last paragraph will have no bearing in Croke Park.

Ballyhale didn’t really get going in the semi final against Ballygunner last year either.

Their forwards have a lot of experience in Croke Park and I expect them to win by 6 or 7 pts.

Ballyhale will be strong favourites for the final and rightly so they're a serious outfit.

Borrisoleigh are in bonus territory, they were 4th or 5th favorites for the tipp title this year.

Having said that no doubt Johnny Kelly will have a plan, so I wouldn't rule out the impossible.

Think players should stand off colin fennelly and leave him run a bit to highlight even more his overcarrying, its ridiculous at this stage that refs havent pulled him on it, just flail your arms and run until your hearts content and no ref will blow you seems to be the way to go.

If players stand off him, Fennelly will make hay as he won't be continuously fouled. He's constantly being pulled and dragged and not getting fair play from refs at any level.

If players stand off him they will notice he actually cant hurl, much easier to stop him by hooking then wrestling him.

    Was at the match today
Fennelly could have carried the ball out of the park and down to warrenpoint and he wasn’t getting blew for it
The ref did fine today but Ballyhale got the marginal calls near the end

Thought horgan favoured ballyhale and as a tipp man that annoyed me know end.

What was your opinion on the tackle on Tj Reid the first half he was totally taken out of it

In fairness there's no doubt he should have been pulled up for the goal at the end but time was up and Ballyhale had the game won realistically.

Fair play to the borris illigh boys. Went into the match as a neutral but from early onwards gone totally off the immature st Thomas's supporters in the left end of the stand constantly booing ronan maher everything he was taking a free. Was really surprised given how rural there club is. Like every neutral around me was delighted to see them shut up in the end.

Any 50/50 calls Ballyhale got them. Slaughtneil were tackling hard but some of the frees were soft and TJ pointed.

It was like Horgan didn’t want an upset to happen on his watch, strange refereeing performance more so than poor.

Was surprised with Horgan, he's usually on the ball with players over carrying.

Current All Star Colin Fennelly got MOTM. Terrific performance showing guts and courage despite been constantly fouled. Well deserved award.
